I was in town today dropping off stuff to storage and dropping off our voting ballots, etc. I amextremely lucky when it comes to parking spaces. Everything can be full and cars ahead of me are looking for spaces, just as I arrive, a car pulls out. It happens all of the time. Having said that, I have the worst look with traffic lights. I hit every single traffic light in town today.

I was listening to Prairie Home Companion yesterday and they were in Bismarck. I found out that it has the lowest unemployment rate in the country.

OR just take that one class on tues and thursday at 9:30 or 12:30 and have mwf end at 9:50… see how hard it is to chooose. i need profesional help. UGH

I believe that my wife and I may have set some kind of record today. I did laundry and when putting the dry stuff away I discovered that I had 4 socks without mates. I mentioned it and she replied, well I had 6.

I’ve been to North Dakota. It is a spectacular state. I didn’t see a single person there who actually lived there. Now that is my kind of state!

johnnyd - For a time, ND was the only state in the union that was losing population. The reason was that family farms were being bought up by big huge farming empires that farm thousands of acres instead of a few hundred. I like returning to the area, my home state, because of the big skies, abundance of wild life and freeways free of cars. Oh, and the people are extremely friendly.

And the landscape was absolutely gorgeous!

Yup, I love the Turtle Mts. and I think my original hometown of Walhalla is the prettiest community in the state. I am biased of course, but it has the states only ski area. And growing up in the 50’s, it was Mayberry.

never was one for skiing, but that is ok. I do enjoy some serious sledding! Is Walhalla on the Missouri River, because the place I was at was, but I forget the name.

johnnyd - No Walhalla is on the little Pembina River, the Missouri is farther south. And the Missouri has left ND farther west of Walhalla and dropped into SD. Maybe you were in the Bismarck area.

I had a great weekend Carmy. Lots of fun meeting peopele and hosting a halloween party for kids. It was lovely to get away to a different place.

My billet had two cats, Squeak and Dakota. Purrr. I’m a happy camper when there are cats (or dogs) around.

We were fed every time we turned around. They talk about Southern hospitality, but Northern hospitality is hard to beat too.

How sweet! I bet you and the kids had a great time. I’m glad you had fun.

Howdy Carmy & Shika. Shika, you missed me in…ready for this…a costume. Yup, I put on a mask. I found it a bit confining, so I ditched it soon after. Did you run into any stink bugs?

Poor Squeak got her name because as a young cat she chewed through an electric cord that threw her across the room. She lost two teeth and her meow. But she got right back up and went back to the cord to bite it again. (they stopped her the second time.)

It is funny to hear a cat who purrs and says “eek!” but that’s all she can do.

We had fun, and the costumes were great. We dressed as students, ha-ha.

Cleo, as costumes go, I did one that was more up your alley: I wore a sheet as a toga, and a pair of shorts, nothing more. I wouldn’t have been able to wear anything less!
