Homemade Belgian waffles with eggs and your choice of maple, saskatoon berry, huckleberry or choke cherry syrup. Oysters pan fried with potatoes, red peppere, onion, garlic and scrambled eggs. Wow, today didn’t start off well. Just about everything that could go wrong at work was. It didn’t help that we were busier than usual, and that I was working with a newbie. I can’t imagine it gets better from here over the next 6 hours or so.

Good Morning tribe! I’ve been real busy the last several days, so I haven’t had time to read all the comments. This next weekend will be busy again, so I’ll be on the scarce side again. Thankfully, my absences have not been/will not be due to problems, so it is all good!

good mornings, also, to cleo, JDoc, Rmom, Dry, & Carmy. weather here looks pretty good, too, though i haven’t checked temps. i think the highs are supposed to be around 10C (which would be about 50F). hope things are good for all of you.

yyyguy the weather here has been like a stuck record with everyday cloudy, rainy and with highs in the mid 40s.

We had really dense fog this morning, but now it is burning off and looking like a nice sunny day. I think the temp should be in the 50’s (F). That is one of the good things about the weather in KS, it doesn’t stay dreary looking for too long of a stretch. Might be terribly cold with wicked wind chills, but bright & sunny! Even when it gets really cold, it doesn’t stay that way for more than a week or two. For as far back as I can remember, we’d usually get a break of 2-3 days of 70 degree weather in the dead of winter. Nothing boring about the weather, here.

@DocT & cleo, about being worried about JAD posts (yesterday): not in my opinion. Yours were interesting, at least to me, and not preachy and nitpicking about the “errors” in a fictious universe. Nor do you feel the need to do so every day.

@DocT, I’m not worried about either the Eggo shortage or the canned pumpkin shortage–we don’t get Eeggos, and our pumpkin is from fresh, AFAIK, which we grow ourselves, and had no trouble getting into storage.

I have carpe diem-ed (not Latin, i know) my rump off and have managed to get job 1’s Monday and Tuesday’s work done in only 6 short hours! But that’s only because the phone didn’t ring, the printer cooperated, and no one was around

Getting ready to start on job 2’s work, which is the same thing I worked on today, just for a different employer. And I get to sit at home in myy caftan and be comfortable.

@cleo, I agree about making your own bread, waffles, etc. We have a local woman who gripes about buying our bread for $2.50 a loaf–our baker just tells her, “If you find any other bread out there as good as ours for less, buy it.”

It’s hard to make anything better (or cheaper) than homemade.

Nope–eyelids good to go for another few days.

Might have to check them out again come Thursday…

@Dry, no need to bast coyote to roast it nicely–just use that Acme (R) tenderizing hammer until the toughness is all beaten out…

bmonk that lady should live around here, a DECENT loaf of bread (with all the preservatives, though) is that much. Cheap white you can get for $1.50. She should buy it, eat it, and enjoy it!

Yes, and our bread is, more or less, homemade, without preservatives, and used plenty of good Dakota ingrediments. Good stuff, if we do say so ourselves.

Good afternoon, Tribe! A special shout to those courageous enough to try Rakkav’s CocoMocha this morning! :)

Here is a simple recipe for a quickie version of CocoMocha:

1 titanium spork from ThinkGeek.com (1) 1 Pessimist’s Mug from Despair.com (2) Kava instant coffee (3) Nesquik (sweetened or unsweetened) (4) Turtle Mountain’s SoDelicious Coconut Milk (plain or vanilla) (5)

(1) Absolutely required, as this recipe (let alone the version made from scratch) will dissolve stainless steel. (2) May use the Pessimist’s Glass for iced mocha - just double the recipe and chill. (3) Tastes better this way, but you may substitute your favorite nerve-jolting instant. WARNING: Do NOT mix DocToon’s Nuclear Coffee with Rakkav’s CocoMocha, as there is a danger of generating a micro-singularity! (4) May substitute favorite cocoa mix as desired. (5) May substitute Blue Diamond Almond Breeze or similar non-dairy product, or with cow’s or goat’s milk if one is daring.

Heat a mug full of coconut milk in your microwave. Add 1 level spork of coffee, then 3 level sporks of cocoa. Stir. Garnish with cinnamon to taste.

Doctor Toon’s Nuclear Coffee has a Super Power Du Jour, evidently.

Rakkav’s CocoMocha is also called Starbright’s (not Starbuck’s) CocoMocha for a reason. It is the favorite drink of my fictional protagonist, who (as far as Super Powers go) is as powerful as he needs to be at any given time.

In other words, he could wipe the floor even with the Beyonder (for your Marvel fans) if he really needed to.

CocoMocha just might give you access to All the Power There Is At Need. Can’t promise you anything, but it’s worth a shot…:))

Hello all of you. so i got a flat tire. tried to pump it up and the air wont go in, yes i took the cap thing off. so i take the tire off and sope it all down, there is no whole that i can see and i just dont know what to do anymore. so i am keeping the tire off till dad gets home to take a look at it. i am so full of grime. fun fun. well i made up my mind that by the time i have saved up enough money to buy my own car i best not be getting no flat tires, i have had enough of them with this stupid car. im fed up. grrrr.

I think it was yesterday that JAD said, after someone gave him a hard time, that an ex brother in law hit him over the head and I take it that did some damage to him. He doesn’t bother me anymore. I can ignore him and he can be quite interesting. I guess I feel sorry for him because I really do not think that he is doing this to PO people.

Dry, Doesn’t change how I looked at it as a mechanic! If the tire hasn’t been run on the rim, it should pump up. Unless the tire is shot, ie steel belts showing, sidewall hole, etc. And in those cases, Fix-A-Flat won’t work either.

I agree with you Cleo, but it still gets to me every now and then. Could just be his age by the way he talks. He sounds like an older southerner. So I just ignore him if I see he starts to ramble too much. No biggie.

terry and Cleo I don’t mind JAD at all! Most of his comments are quite informative and interersting, and there are others around the gocomics site who post long boring comments that give TMI that people don’t care to hear!

And I didn’t mean your last post Johanan. I was referring to others!

I don’t mind so much, but many of his comments are so pedantic and have no sense of symbolic language for any religious image. It’s probably me, but it does irk me at times.

Dry, go shopping as early as you can in the morning. I’ve gone as early as 7am and it’s not crowded, you can be in and out in a flash.

Like Mopar, we went to get a few items for dinner tonight and it was a madhouse. I made the mistake of getting our cart too close to the turkey bin and those ladies and a couple of guys almost knocked me into the bin!!

Carmy, you’re right about the timing in the morning! It’s the best!

Doc, that’s what I meant about “most of the time”! LOL

Another advantage to early morning shoping is that the store is nice and clean. The shelves and freezers are stocked already too. (Thanks Doc!)

I am doing okay. I took a little nap before dinner. I am looking forward to the holiday and the down time. My girls are off from school after tomorrow. Dry, I think that if I had a regular job, I would always be late due to one more cup of coffee and gocomics.

Just stopped in to say ‘hi’ and ‘bye’. I have to leave for work soon so I won’t be back until tomorrow. I’m starting a nine day shift so I don’t think I’ll be on much for the next few days. That’s too long but usually I get five days off. But I traded days with the other night shift staff so that chopped up my five days. Oh well, it works out to one extra day and my paycheck can sure use it. Or rather, all the people with their hands in my pocket.

I still seem to be almost writing a book, don’t I? Sorry.

MoPar, ok, that makes sense. Michigan winning more than Virginia is little consolation to me, no offense, but when I started here, we were perennial BCS contenders. Now, we are a joke.

johnny I understand. When I was at Virginia we were the doormat of the NCAA but then I saw the program grow and we gained respect and reached a number 1 ranking but faltered. Still, we got respect. Then we started playing consistently and were in a decent bowl game every year until lately. Now we are the team everybody wants to play for an easy win. It stinks. Anyway I am sure we will have a new coach next year and start rebuilding. I love the game and nobody can call me a fair weather fan. I wore my Virginia jacket today
