Good morning all. Supposed to be 70 here tomorrow (SE VA) but cold and something falling from the sky on Saturday. For us, that’s usually a cold rain.

hello Saucy, Dry, DocT, Tabby, Cleo, Terry, Carmy, merrymarg, JDoc, Akenta, & anyone I missed. hope all is well. brief aside, to Saucy i’d rather have snow than the cold rain as it doesn’t seem to bug my arthritic knees quite so much. once the temps get to the point where they are either below freezing, or above mid-fifties i’m all right, but for the few weeks in fall and spring where they try to make up their minds… (let’s keep it clean and just call it a drag.)

Not so much snow on the frozen tundra this week yet – but it’s gol-durned

out there! (Currently about -0ºF, supposed to get into the minus teens tonight…)

Lots of people up here get those parkas with the hoods that have a tunnel of 6 or 8 inches in front of the face to keep warmer.

I just wear a knitted earmuff.

@DocT, maybe the next cup of coffee you drink will give you the ability to grow a full fur pelt.

Poor Doc. We do feel for you. Is that bit of sympathy enough to send you all this blasted COLD? Also the rest of the snow although we really don’t have too much.

Doc - I really wish you’d kept that cold wet stuff all to yourself, instead of pushing it this way. We’re experiencing freezing drizzle. Oh, joy.. We lost our internet for a while due to the ice building up on the antenna. I’m guessing it will go down again later when the temperature drops lower. I think we’re around 30 degrees F. I’m not happy when the internet goes out, but I’m really not happy when we lose power in this all-electric house! (We do have a wood stove for emergencies, but it is a pain to keep stoking, and it doesn’t heat the whole house.) Also, that means no water - the pump for the well doesn’t run w/o electricity.

We’re sitting at 4F / -15C right now, with windchill it’s -9F / -23C. It’s warmed up a bit since yesterday…

You goldurned Canadians are always sending your cold weather our way. I have heard of cross border trading, but this is taking it way to far. LOL

Terry - I’m doing okay - power’s on, internet is up. I’m just busier than normal, so not as much time to hang around the BT.

The sun was out for a few hours but now it’s getting cloudy. I best get that catapult ready so I can fling the stuff that’s coming back in Doc’s direction!

Now they are talking rain & snow mix here tonight and then turning to all snow tomorrow but only a couple of inches tomorrow. Not too bad.

@cleo, you’ve heard, I’m sure, about the farmer up north of Plentywood, Montana? For years, his farm was north of the border, until they re-surveyed it and found there had been an error, that actually he was just south of the border. When they asked him about how he felt living in the US rather than Canada, he was overjoyed: “I don’t think I could stand another one of those Canada winters!”

I’ve been to the border, and it’s not true that the only thing stopping the wind is a barb-wire fence with two of the three strands broken.

Cleo, what is your weather doing?

Terry it is very cold and clear. The air is fresh and the birds are attacking the food in my feeders so intently that I have had to fill one of them twice today.

Cleo, I’ve got the bird feeders too, but the birds are getting scarce here.

I grew up only 1/2 hour from the Alberta/Montana border. The funny thing is that due to the Chinook winds, the Canada side usually had milder winters. I’ve seen brown fields on the Canadian side and Montana side covered with snow. I understand that one of the reasons the 49th parallel was chosen as the border for most of the western side was that there actually is a geographic and climatic difference at that point.

I know - count my blessings, but it is just so gray, rainy and cold.

Maybe i’m feeling it more because I’ve been working on Christmas Eve bulletins, cantata programs, and Children’s pageant handouts. It is a church secretary’s craziest time.
