Good Morning Tribe!
I went to Denny’s and brought grand slam breakfasts for everyone! I also brought some grits for Akenta. We have nuclear coffee, assorted teas and juices and cocomocha. Also, plain, chocolate or strawberry milk.
We just got back from the hockey game. Because of the snow storm, they are giving free tickets to those who had tickets for last night’s game. Regardless of whether you used your ticket or not! Pretty cool. My kid is extra excited!
Great Breakfast Carmy. My daughter and I got the free Grand Slams at our local Denny’s yesterday. I’m in the middle of eating some cinnamon raisin toast right now. :^)
Going to snow in New England. Got the fire laid and a good book.. SHE WHO MUST BE OBEYED swears there are marshmallows in the pantry so I’d better break out the cocoa.
Morning TRIBE! As excited as a kid hearing “No School!”
Cleo, this area is not normally known for earthquakes. I felt the tremor, but nothing bad. Felt as if it was very windy outside with the windows rattling slightly.
Dry, are you getting a lot of snow? I’m sure someone would appreciate a huge snowapult of it in Colorado. I thought it would be warming up here, but this morning it was in the 30’s and quite windy, brrrr!
“Could Pete be called a Noid instead if he is from Noy?
If he had a brother, would they be a pair a’ Noids?”
You do know we are watching you? And are out to get you for that??
When I saw today’s Dennis the Menace, for some reason I thought of our cleo, who loves to wear a smile.
And nothing else.
I heard about the earthquake in Chicago. When I was growing up down by Thornton, we probably got the equivalent several times a year, when they would bring down a few thousand tons of limestone in the quarry.
Later in the week we have a slight chance of a little snow–but nothing to fear. Just this week, the local utilities finally got all the customers hooked back up to power. The storm was only three weeks ago…
bmonk, it’s bad to be without power that long. When we have hurricanes, we’re without power for 2 or 3 days and that’s too long for me. I can’t even imagine going without for 3 weeks.
Well, it’s really not as bad as it sounds. Most of the last few customers were isolated farms, and they have tractors to which they attach generators. And we know it’s a possibility, so most people are prepared for this sort of thing, if not three weeks of it. However–diesel fuel does get rather expensive…
bmonk, thanks for enlightening me. I should have realized that the people there would naturally be prepared for the winter.
Dry, are you okay? Do we need to send you food or provisions? I’m kidding. :)
Cleo, try not to rub it in.
Carmy we are just making up for last winter when we got so much snow followed by such warm rainy weather that I had nail on board on one of my pilings to keep my dock from floating away.
good morning Tribe
i’ve been a bit too busy to keep up lately, but i’m trying to catch up now. hope Dry stays safe (and sure she will) and sorry to hear Tabby has a “taped up thumb” (as my old Doctor used to say when i walked - or limped - into his office, “What have you done to yourself this time?”)
time to start reading toons!
If you guys could actually see the inside of our house you would realize that some of your color “jokes” are not far off.
For example: tart margarita, sonic lime, baguette, jalapeno orange and the color I just picked up today is drizzle. Sounds bleak, doesn’t it, but it is actually a pale blue.
no, cleo “drizzle” sounds like a cool name for a color.
anyhow, Tribe time for me to say sayonara again (and i only got as far as bloom county). i guess i’ll have to finish the catch-up later.
peace, all.
I stop by for one of my favorite canceled comics and step into the Waltons! I loved this comic and the free grand slams. Fine date idea for the flounderingly employed.
Back for the day and just checking to see what’s going on. They have cleaned everything up very well from last night’s snow storm. Streets are in great condition.
Unfortunately I have not been able to find an extending pole that reaches that high, so we aren’t able to clean the very top. We get a crew of window washers in and they get around the area for us. We have our windows washed once a year so that is about the only time it is cleaned.
Well, I wouldn’t worry about that! It probably doesn’t get that dirty and people don’t spend their time looking at ceilings. Of course, they would look the first time just to see it. I’ll bet it’s very nice!
Everything is painted now, so I have a real feel for how the paint has altered the room. We hired a paint consultant to come in twice, because if we made a mistake in color choice it would be costly. I was worried because we painted 3 walls a dark brown-green (superior bronze, one wall a tan-gold-yellow (baguette) and our stairway wall orange-red (jalapeno) and our french doors a light pastel blue (drizzle), so you can imagine how nervous we were with the choices. As I said Dry we have a very wild color scheme in our house. Our goal was to make our living room seem warmer and smaller and it worked. We have some very colorful large art pieces and a wool abstract floor rug that sits on light stained oak flooring and the paint will go nicely with our art work and furniture. Our new couch and love seat will look great in the room now. Friday a guy comes in to install a new ceiling fan which we are going to drop down six feet from the peak in the ceiling, now I am worrying about the extra 3 feet it will hang down from our previous fan.
When we redid our church about 10 years back, we went with lighter colors to open it up a bit, and tried to get local tones: pale sky blue, scoria, light green-olive, tans. It worked nicely.
Wow Cleo! It sounds VERY nice indeed! Why are you worried about the ceiling fan length? If you were as tall as JFri I could see why, but otherwise, that doesn’t seem so much.
cleo, who ever saw an orange red jalapeno?? Every one I ever saw was green!! Maybe it refers to the color of the fire coming out of your mouth if you get a real hot one???
It is funny, we had the outside of our house painted two summers ago. We are situated with our house being on a hill and their is a small canyon and creek behind our house and forest on the other side of the creek. We wanted our house to blend in with the forest and the colors we chose did a lot to do just that. We just discovered that our living room colors are very similar to the outside paint job, minus the jalapeno red.
Dry you and I would have a good time eating together. I like very hot foods as well, although as I age, I am not going as all out as I used to, just because other flavors suffer with to much heat. The only person I have met who could take more heat than me was Persian.
Cleo You are a riot! I would like to try those peppers Tabby had the link to. Never heard of them before, but I would at least give it a shot to see if I could do it!

Yes that is the perfect color. We should use it for Cleo’s bathroom!
bmonk about 15 years ago
Morning, Dry, yyyguy, cleo, Carmy, Doc–I’m back for a bit before lunch.
I really think that iridescent pink needs a sparkly, umm, burnt orange to set it off properly. What do you think, Dry?
yyyguy about 15 years ago
no, just pink - in varying shades.
bmonk about 15 years ago
Yeh, I could see that. Let’s limit it to no more than nine?
