Good morning all. I’m finally getting a chance to catch up on all the comics that I missed the last couple of days.

I am sure anxious for life in my household to get back to normal. This paint job has taken much longer than I thought it would.

@cleo, don’t home improvement projects always do that? Schedule twice the time and half again the money–or is it the reverse?

bunnyface yes, I can only think of one or two times when I have in my mind figured out how much a project would cost and how long it would take and had them be less. Both times the projects were handled by hispanic workers. We were getting bids on a flagstone patio. One bid came in at over 3000 dollars and 3 weeks work. The hispanic worker ended up doing that patio and two others for us for less than the other bid for one and each patios work was finished in or two days.

We had a bank on the road that was covered in invasive Ivy and blackberries. We wanted the work done in a way that would spare the plants we wanted to save. The first bid, the fellow looked at the bank and said, we will need a permit because we will need to park a dump truck on the road and will need flaggers. My bobcat will take care of the ivy, but your other plants may get damaged. It is going to be a challenging project. The Mexican fellow whom we hired said he would clear the bank in one day and no permit would be required because they would do it in one day by hand. They did a fantastic job and took the load away in their pickup, plus all of our plants were spared.

I just got back from a hike and the painters are finishing up. Unfortunately LilG got back from a bike ride and didn’t realize that they had just painted the door. She smeared orange paint onto the external trim and inside wall. I have paint to touch up the trim, but could not find any paint downstairs for the dining room wall. Groan.

Hi Cleo. Is that how you keep busy when you retire? :^)

Terry this has been a hectic start to the year. I have had it with projects and now with that paint on the dining room wall, I can only hope LilG knows what paint and color it is, so we can touch up the wall without having to repaint the dining room.

Cleo, now a days, you can take a sample (a chip from an inconspicuous area) of the paint to a paint store and they can match it. Just a thought.

(Sorry, I had jumped in the shower for a bit. Had to get in there before someone else.)

Or talk to the painters–they would know the mix, or may even have a bit left over still.

Cleo–When the day comes where my mother moves in with us, we’ll need to redo the basement for her. Kind of make it into a small apt for her.

Hello Bmonk–Right you are.

We were discussing the flaking off of some paint to take in when suggested trying to wash it off. I told him it had been on for an hour or so, but I tried it and it all came off, both indoors and outdoors. He said even before 24 hours has passed you can often get new paint off if you wash with warm water. That is a rellief.

Is that the paint color, Tabby, or are you offering it to us?

Still, a small can of the same color paint(s) could come in handy a few months or years down the road…

Wait–that’s one can per color. It doesn’t work to keep two or more colors in one can. I know.

I wish there were sound–the voices were great, and Mr. Roger had just the right amount of suppressed anger…

Bunnyface i get such a kick when they do any of the voices. I know there’s a script, but I sometimes think GK goes off script just to make the actors and sound effects guys sweat! There’s just the slightest pause that makes me wonder, “was this planned?”

Well, the painting is done and I just helped them set up a two story scaffolding for when the ceiling fan gets hung later this afternoon. What a lot of work for one fan.

The ceiling fan is up and works great, the scaffolding will be removed tomorrow just after 8AM, the LIlG wants to recondition the hardwood floor. By Sunday hopefully everything will be back to “normal”.
