Just for the record, I went to a small college with Miss Ireland after she’d won that title. One of my few regrets of those days: I never got to date her, although we got to talk and from all I could tell hit it off well.
(Oops. Someone mentioned Playboy Bunnies yesterday, and this was a reponse. Miss Ireland was no Bunny. She was better: beautiful from the inside out.)
Good Morning, Cleo. I’m drinking coffee and getting my day’s activities situated. I’m supposed to have one or two automotive jobs after church today. We’ll see.
Doc as I have been reading comics here at gocomics, there are getting to be certain strips that are becoming much more addicting than others. Many, I can read or miss without regret, but there is a number that just make my day and brighten each morning.
Here are some ways to really annoy people big time…
Sing It’s A Small World incessantly.
Start each meal by conspicuously licking all your food, and announcing its your property.
Leave your turn signal on for fifty miles.
Name your dog “Dog”.
Insist on keeping your car windshield wipers running in all weather conditions.
Reply to everything someone says with “That’s what YOU think!”
Declare your apartment an independent nation, and sue your neighbors upstairs for “violating your airspace”.
Forget the punch line to a long joke, but assure the listener it was a “real hoot”.
Follow a few paces behind someone, spraying everything they touch with a can of Lysol.
Practice making fax and modem noises.
Invent nonsense words in conversations, and see if people play along to avoid looking ignorant.
Finish all your sentences with the words “in accordance with prophecy.”
Wear a special hip holster for your remote control.
Signal that a conversation is over by clamping your hands over your ears.
Give a play-by-play account of a person’s every action in a nasal voice.
Stand on a street corner, pointing a hair drier at passing traffic, and watch it slow down.
Apparently, a few things came to mind before you left, LuvH8. Have a good day.

Determin the type of infestation you have and buy the appropriate poison. Home Depot will have the stuff to take care of everything from fire ants to carpenter ants.
Apply liberal doses to the hill(s) and apply to the rest of your yard using a broadcaster and the recommended settings by the manufacturer. Applying to the whole yard will ensure that the ants won’t just move to another location in your yard.
Applications will be good for anywhere from 6 months to a year. Hope this helps.
managed to get up on time today…a little early in fact but thats ok.
Taking my tour of toons and then going to tackle getting the lateral file and bookcase to get them in position. Then I can start sorting, pitching, saving, working doing and such.
I’m on vacation this week. Need the time to get the stuff done so son can bring in his stuff. Need to make a lot of star earrings, too…they’re selling well.
I’ll be in and out. It is a lovely day here but I’m not much for outdoors, the sun is too bright and bothers my eyes. Hope it’s nice for all Tribe-members
I managed to get up at five A.M. this morning even though I didn’t have to. Still that’s a good thing, because I like to get up early and get the morning chores done.
In a little while, I’ll be going out for some fun. I want to take advantage of this beautiful day.
Well I didn’t have an ant problem as I thought. From the second floor one of my solar lights looks like a little ant hill. I made an application anyway as a preventative measure.
I did find out that my sprinkler pipes froze during one of the many freezes we’ve had this year. I’ll need to get that fixed but in the short run I’m hoping for rain. (I never thought I’d say that.)
Our church has been collecting Buckets of Hope for Haiti. 5 gallon buckets filled with rice, beans, peanut butter, cooking oil, sugar, spaghetti and flour. Sunday school kids packed up 17 buckets today. Will send them along with buckets from other area churches. Should feed a family of 4 for 1 week. Seems a small thing, but good.
Hello All. I have had a hot tub, bike ride, lunch and did some dusting (something that I hate doing) and now I figured would be a good chance to catch up on the Tribe.
Hello Grog. I’m not very motivated today either, maybe it’s the loss of that hour. My wife wants me to put back all the stuff that I moved when we took out and put in our new oil tank and the desire is lacking.
I have finished the repair job. Now into my Sunday night, get ready for the week relaxation time. Unless Wolfangil has something else for me to do. LOL
Oh man am I pooped. But my son came over and helped with the lateral file and I got the bookcase on top of it. Protection mat is down, closet door can open, and the living room looks like a bomb went off in it.
Ya, I had my desk setup in the living room. I guess I really didn’t have to, since my son wasn’t with us at the time and my ex d-i-l was only going to be with us 2 more months before moving to Texas (had to get the divorce finalized). But it’s habit, by the front door and near the kitchen to keep an eye on the kid. It worked in the days he was 10 years old, now he is out on his own, so to speak.
Anyway, I’m off to get some of the junk still in the living room back here for putting into the drawers and such. I may check in here and there. Ax Men is coming on tonight, I want to see what the Swamp Logger ran into. He’s had a real bummer run of luck this year. And will Jimmy kill his son James?
Carmy, I have to add that I saved some lamb cubes for some lamb-kebobs I’d like to have later in the week. I was thinking of doing it sooner, but realized I was out of red wine vinegar which I use as part of a marinade. So much for planning ahead.
When we first moved to WA we had a small grocery store and gas station on the Mt. Baker Hwy. Many of our neighbors and customers were loggers. Zee Brothers was a family owned company and the biggest in the area at the time.

LW18 - sometimes I leave markers, other times I make a note of which page of comments I was on, so I can just scroll down until I see new ones I haven’t read. However, I’m blessed with a natural ability to speedread, so I can read about as fast as I can scroll, unless the posts are lengthy.
Lonewolf as a student of the classic film, I would find it difficult to pick one film. I love a number of films from different genres for different reasons. I’m not sure where The Quiet Man ranks, but it would be up there with the best of them.
cleo, I’m not a big fan of Paul Newman (sorry ladies)
Let’s just say that this week I will be on a “high”
Monday: High Noon
Tuesday: High Plains Drifter
Wedesday: High Sierra
The rest of the week is TV
Thursday: Rockford Files
Friday: X Files
Saturday: STNG & Are You Being Served.
I don’t recall Peter Graves being that big in the movies. The only one that I have with Him in one is Stallag 17. Then of course I grew up watching Mission: Impossible which I think he was best known for.
I have to admit I never took to Gunsmoke, Bananza or any of the other TV westerns. Yet, I do have my favorite movie westerns, one of which I’ll be seeing tomorrow.
When I lived in Vancouver, BC during my stint at Art School, my roommates and I used to go to Chinatown at least 3 times a week for an early morning (2 AM) feast.
I hope your personal life is doing a little better. You may want to skip reading the rest of the comments (at least until after you’ve slept). Also B.C. & possibly Birdbrains.
~ Have a good day!
Toll house cookies are very good! My kids love them! The others I can do without, especially if they contain nuts! But almonds and peanuts are not tree nuts.
That’s a shame Dry. It must be difficult to pay attention to every ingredient. At least they are much better about revealling processing issues. Around this site, the nuts are more obvious.
Oh, I want to go to the next renovation job too! I’m very handy with tools and such. Especially machetes! Cleo you need some help with the yard too? Or perhaps some rodents?
Wasn’t that weird how they ran after the Farmer’s wife and she came back at them with a butcher knife? She must have remembered that she was bigger than they were.
Road Kill stew, Road Kill stew,

Sing It’s A Small World incessantly. Start each meal by conspicuously licking all your food, and announcing its your property. Leave your turn signal on for fifty miles. Name your dog “Dog”. Insist on keeping your car windshield wipers running in all weather conditions. Reply to everything someone says with “That’s what YOU think!” Declare your apartment an independent nation, and sue your neighbors upstairs for “violating your airspace”. Finish all your sentences with the words “in accordance with prophecy.” Wear a special hip holster for your remote control. Signal that a conversation is over by clamping your hands over your ears. Give a play-by-play account of a person’s every action in a nasal voice. Stand on a street corner, pointing a hair drier at passing traffic, and watch it slow down.

And will Jimmy kill his son James?
p& l in case I don’t get back.
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
You’ve done enough projects for a while. I’m hoping I don’t get any more this evening, Cleo.
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
I’m waiting for Ax Men also, Quaby! Should be a good one tonight.
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
Carmy, I have to add that I saved some lamb cubes for some lamb-kebobs I’d like to have later in the week. I was thinking of doing it sooner, but realized I was out of red wine vinegar which I use as part of a marinade. So much for planning ahead.
cleokaya over 14 years ago
What is Ax Men?
tabbylynn over 14 years ago
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
Cleo, Ax Men is a show about logging crews up in your neck of the woods.
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
Sorry, but I got side-tracked with some RL here.
cleokaya over 14 years ago
I had a feeling that’s what it was. There are plenty of loggers up here that is for sure.
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
It has most of the outfits working between the 2 states up there. And one in a swamp somewhere else.
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
Time for dinner. Be back soon.
cleokaya over 14 years ago
When we first moved to WA we had a small grocery store and gas station on the Mt. Baker Hwy. Many of our neighbors and customers were loggers. Zee Brothers was a family owned company and the biggest in the area at the time.

Hi Tribe How was everybody’s day?
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Hi, Terry & Cleo!
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Hi, LW18! Just trying to get caught up on my comics before I get behind.
ladywolf17 over 14 years ago
I’m trying to get caught up on the comments. I got to start learning to leave markers, so I know where I left off when I come back.
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
LW18 - sometimes I leave markers, other times I make a note of which page of comments I was on, so I can just scroll down until I see new ones I haven’t read. However, I’m blessed with a natural ability to speedread, so I can read about as fast as I can scroll, unless the posts are lengthy.
ladywolf17 over 14 years ago
Hi Rmom, Lonewolf, Cleo, Grog, Dry Tabby Lynn, Shika, Carmy, J-Fri, Marg, LuvH8, Quaby,

So many people. hard to keep track of all the names.
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Thanks, Grog! I have a wee bit of Irish in me. My husband has more, as one of his great-grandfathers came from Ireland.
ladywolf17 over 14 years ago
The last movie I saw about an Irishman was Darby O’ Gill And The Little People. I think it was a Disney movie, but I’m not sure.

LW18, you have to see The Quiet Man

Hi ♠Lonewolf♠.
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
Grog, The Quiet Man is one of my all-time faves.
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Good evening, Doc!
ladywolf17 over 14 years ago
Grog The Quiet Man, Yeah it rings a bell I think it had John Wayne in it If I’m correct.
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
John Wayne, Maureen O’Hara & Barry Fitzgerald among a great cast of supporting actors.
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
Lonewolf as a student of the classic film, I would find it difficult to pick one film. I love a number of films from different genres for different reasons. I’m not sure where The Quiet Man ranks, but it would be up there with the best of them.
cleokaya over 14 years ago
One of my favorite classic films is It Happened one Night.
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
Carry Grant & Claudette Colbert if I’m not mistaken. Good movie.
I’m presently on the H’s so I’ll be seeing it soon enough
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
Grog, it’s just one of my old time favorites amd it ranks fairly high on the list.
cleokaya over 14 years ago
So Grog is The Hustler in your lineup?
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
cleo, I’m not a big fan of Paul Newman (sorry ladies) Let’s just say that this week I will be on a “high” Monday: High Noon Tuesday: High Plains Drifter Wedesday: High Sierra
The rest of the week is TV Thursday: Rockford Files Friday: X Files Saturday: STNG & Are You Being Served.
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
Speaking of movies and TV, Peter Graves has passed away today.
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
I don’t recall Peter Graves being that big in the movies. The only one that I have with Him in one is Stallag 17. Then of course I grew up watching Mission: Impossible which I think he was best known for.
Did they say how old he was, Lonewolf?
ladywolf17 over 14 years ago
Sorry to hear about Peter Graves. I had to read about him on the Wikipedia Just to learn about him.

I wonder where the rest of the yappy ladies are. It’s very quiet around here today. (No offense, LW18. Their presence is missed.)
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
83 years young, Grog.
Hey there, LW18
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
He is also James Arness’(Gunsmoke) younger brother.
ladywolf17 over 14 years ago
I never knew that ♠Lonewolf♠ Of course these days I only watch T.V. to go to bed to.
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
I never knew that, Lonewolf.
I have to admit I never took to Gunsmoke, Bananza or any of the other TV westerns. Yet, I do have my favorite movie westerns, one of which I’ll be seeing tomorrow.
ladywolf17 over 14 years ago
My grandparents would know about the great movie classics. And maybe my dad, but not me.
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
Those were all shows I watched because the adults would be watching them. We were lucky to have one good TV at a time in the house.

It’s the Chicago River. They dye it green every year.

I never knew that either. Interesting.

And Montreal paints a green line down the parade path on St. Catherine Street every year…which may be a problem if there’s a big snow storm,

Or I should say parade route.

carmy over 14 years ago
I like the cookies with the M&Ms too!
cleokaya over 14 years ago
That’s a shame Dry. It must be difficult to pay attention to every ingredient. At least they are much better about revealling processing issues. Around this site, the nuts are more obvious.

Carmy I always carry it with me! Once I had a graham cracker cheesecake at a restaurant and low and behold, they had* walnuts* in the crust! LOL!
