Good morning all, no breakfast. I seem to have both a sinus headache and a migraine working so the nausea precludes any thoughts of eating :( My boss knew what was up when he saw that I was sitting at my desk with my extremely dark glasses and headphones on. Now if the phone would just stop ringing…
Dry, I work in a rather smallish plant now with about 50 employees, but there are idiots to be found here and our Corporate office that I often deal with. I’ve been with the same company for over 30 years. People come and people go - and no matter where I’ve been within the organisation, there are always idiots to be found.
Good Morning Cleo!JFri, thanks for the Krispy Kremes!
Dry, I’ve worked in large offices and small offices. Whichever one that doesn’t have people trying to be the boss when they’re not is good to me.
Carmy - You’ve nailed my family on the head! All my siblings try to be boss, when I’ve got all the legal authority. My, am I glad to have Mom’s house sold! (Gives them less opportunities to try to be boss.)
Coming home from his Little League game, Billy swung open the front door very excited. Unable to attend the game, his father immediately wanted to know what happened. “So, how did you do son?” he asked.
“You’ll never believe it!” Billy said. “I was responsible for the winning run!”
rac0308, not the same company. I had worked for the same company for over 30 years, before a Japanese firm bought my particular business. New company, some new idiots and some of the same old idiots are still here.
I suppose I’m an idiot for still being here, but I’m hoping to retire in 5 years!
I’m beginning to know that feeling, rac0308. There was a time when I enjoyed going to work. Hopefully when I do get to retire, I’ll be able to enjoy it. So far so good from the health stand point, but a lot can change in 5 years.
Shika, as usual you disappear before I show up. Wow, an hour without comments. Well, I just got back from a nice bike ride. The rain held back for the entire ride
Cleo - I’m popping in & out. Lunch duties, and making copies of receipts, but I get to stay home today! I’m going to go outside sometime this afternoon to take pictures of my lilac bushes & cut some blossoms to bring in the house.
I found some jokes I could have used last week, so better late than never (I hope!)
You know you are from Kansas when…
…The local gas station sells live bait.
…The meaning of true love is that you’ll ride on the tractor with him.
…There’s a tornado warning and the whole town is outside watching for it.
…You attend Chicken fried Steak Anonymous meetings
…You call the wrong number… and talk to the person for an hour anyway.
…You don’t clean up the dog’s mess… because it’s fertilizer.
…You don’t put too much effort into hair styles due to the wind and weather.
…You go to a French restaurant and the appetizers on the menu include some of your favorite bait.
…You know you should listen to the weather forecast before picking out an outfit to wear.
…Your car breaks down outside of town and news of it reaches back to town before you do.
…Your excuse for getting out of school is that the cows got out.
…Your mayor is also your garbage hauler, barber and insurance salesman.
…Your nearest neighbor is in the next area code.
…You’re on a first-name basis with the county sheriff.
…. A bad traffic jam involves two cars staring each other down at a four-way stop, each determined to be the most polite and let the other go first.
…. A tornado warning siren is your signal to go out in the yard and look for a funnel.
…. It doesn’t seem odd to see the term “chicken fried chicken” on a menu.
…. You think that people who complain about the wind in other states are sissies.
Good ones Rmom. I’ve never been to Kansas though. I can’t stand the winds up in the Texas panhandle around the Amarillo/ Pampa area. They seem always be blowing at a constant 35 miles an hour no matter what time of year you go up there.
It is pretty windy here today, but the actual “High Wind Warning” area is a county over.
Cleo - Since you’re good at cooking, as long as you can find round steak, you could make it yourself. I could give you my recipe, or you could find one on the internet.
Thanks Rmom, but Chicken Fried Steak is something I eat only rarely an always at a restaurant as a special treat. At home, I try to eat very healthy breakfasts.
And we do laugh, LuvH8. One fine example has a Dilbert cartoon strip with Wally’s name scratched out and the idiot’s name pencilled in.
There are others in the Dallas office that have us shaking our heads too.
Some days are better than others. This week is not heavy on deadlines but I will be going off-site to our Tech center Friday afternoon for a cost review. I’ll be closer to home when I leave, so I’m not going to complain about not being able to checking in. And I’ll be closer to home to kick off a 4-day week-end. It can’t get too much better than that!
The beginning of the month is different. I may be at my desk, but the deadlines will keep from from doing more than just saying hello.
I can sympathize with checking the weather before you pick an outfit. This past week has seen temps in the 20’s, 80’s and just about everything in between.
johnny - My son wished he had double-checked the weather before wearing shorts to school. I think it was in the 40’s with about a 40mph wind. I’ve started learning that if we have a strong thunderstorm in the evening, there’s a good chance that the next day is going to be a lot cooler than the day before.
I went outside and took lots of pictures of my lilacs. I cut enough for a couple vases. I’ll try to get them uploaded to photobucket one of these days.
Hi Rmom, I think you are not the only one out of sports jokes. Maybe we should jump to your chosen types of jokes or just do random subjects. What do you think?
Doc ~ Three weeks of NO COFFEE! Do you think that is why I am so tired?
Doc - You could do it too! Don’t you want to be free of this terrible addiction? It will improve your health, and eventually increase your energy. (giggles)
LuvH8 - I suggest we fill in the rest of this week with jokes that are either difficult to categorize, or else there aren’t enough to fill up a week with them.
I don’t think I have any more baseball jokes, although let me look around at some of my books.
Dysfunctional Greeting Card:
Congratulations on your promotion. Before you go….
(Inside card) - Will you take the knife from my back? You’ll probably need it again.
Sorry, Grog, the hundreds of millions of dollars that theey spent will likely pay off again.
Off I go, I may or may not be back later. peace and love all.
A lady walked into a pet shop that was having a sale. She asks, Do you have any birds left?” The owner told her, “You’re in luck. All that twitters is not sold!”
Heheh, funny, but not exactly, LuvH8. I haven’t seen it in a long time, but I know that it has nothing to do with vampires. More about a soldier who finds his courage behind enemy lines.
Plenty of action so far. I can’t take my eyes off it for too long, so if I make a typo, you’ll know why.
This is manly man week for my movies. I run through them alphabettically so it’s all luck of the draw. Tomorrow it’s In Harm’s Way. After that I start the Indiana Jones Trilogy
Good night Josh, LuvH8, LoneWolf! I’m heading back to
the meadows myself before the dew appears. They don’t
call it “Dewdrop Meadows” for nothing! Night, Y’all!
No, I wasn’t really into those movies. I just remember snakes from someone else watching. Snakes are hard to forget. I also don’t like the baboons in The Omen. Ugly, ugly!
Yeah those movies aren’t for the squeamish, particularly The Temple of Doom if you also dislike big old bugs. But The Last Crusade had a little less of all that & also Starred Sean Connery as Indy’s Dad, where we find out that he called him Junior and Indiana was the dog’s name.
Good night Josh, Tink, LuvH8, and LoneWolf. Well, make that good evening here in Colorado Springs. While some of you are about to head off to dreamland, I’m heading off to dinner. So see you all tomorrow. Bye.
Cleo WE ARE ALWAYS READY FOR A BOOKERS, SIR! AND I SHALL BRING SHRIMP STEAMED IN BEER AND OLD BAY, and twice baked potatoes with aged cheddar and bacon and cream cheese and chive, real chives from my garden! Sound good Cleo?
LuvH8, chilled monkey brains was the desert in The Temple of Doom All I can tell you is that they are chilled. They are served in soething that looks like a coconut. They are covered with a lid until served.
Cleo, I could watch Raiders of the Lost Ark & The Last Crusade over and over again, but The Temple of Doom is one that I’d rather watch with a blindfold.
It doesn’t mean that there isn’t one coming out, LW18, but I haven’t heard about it.
Fellow Baby, not a word. I tried calling them, too, but there was no answer. Did a search on then to see if I could find out more about them, but there were only 2 reviews. One that said they were very slow in filling orders and the others said something about pirating.
I’m going to try to keep calling though. Maybe some day I’ll get an answer.
Carmy, ABSOLUTELY. I have ALL of the Connery movies and a few of the earlier Moore movies. I sold everything else to a second hand video store in Frisco, TX.
Carmy, a little north of Dallas. When I lived there, I used to go to the Stonebriar Mall fairly often. This video rental place was on the same lot but not in the main mall. This mall puts the malls in Houston to shame.
I couldn’t agree more, Carmy. And the Stonebriar was probably the best in the Dallas area. Some malls cater more to high end shopper, some to low end, but Stonebriar appears to cater to all.
A little guy was sitting at a bar one day, drinking his beer and minding his own business, when a great big guy walked by and – BAM! – knocked him off his bar stool. “That was a karate chop from Korea!” the big guy said, grinning.
The little guy gets up, angry, but figuring that the big guy was probably drunk, he decided to just get back on his stool and finish his beer. All of the sudden – BAM! – the big guy comes back by and knocks him off the stool again. “That was a judo chop from Japan!” he yelled happily.
The little guy had been through enough. He got back up, brushed himself off, swallowed the last of his beer, and left. An hour later he returned. Finding the big guy with his back to him, the little guy walked up and – BAM! – knocked him right off his stool and out cold on the floor.
The little guy yelled over to the bartender on his way out the door, “When he wakes up, tell him that was a crowbar from Sears.”
Lost is a scripted show that should be over sometime soon. I can’t wait. I’d stop watching it, but I have been watching it thus far, why not just finish it.
Johnnydoc5 ~ Once I start a book, movie or TV series it is like I feel I have to finish it. Even as I am sitting there wondering what the heck I am doing I continue. (though with books and movies I can skip to the end)
Yes, Cleo, she is. They only kept her a few days. Couldn’t conclude anything. They have her on a special medication, but if the check ups go well, it will only be a temp medication. I just wish she would eat better than she does. I think that is part of the problem with her healthwise.
Sounds kind of like my Gma, but she always has to have her hash browns and eggs in the morning. She is diabetic and eats more sweets than me and Monkey 2 combined. And we both are sugar addicts.
That’s my next thing to cut back on. One of the reasons I quit coffee is because my cofffee tasted like those coffee candies. (hangs head in shame).
Cleo, I have a younger sister, but that’s all that’s left. I don’t want to say anymore on that subject. Being that she raised us by herself for years, she IS my best friend. Lately she calls me and just talks and talks, so I let her.
Thanks for asking.

Heheh, funny, but not exactly, LuvH8. I haven’t seen it in a long time, but I know that it has nothing to do with vampires. More about a soldier who finds his courage behind enemy lines.
