Thank you Little Sister, we must keep Kitty happy. Some people get a little freaked out by his grumbling when he is in a bad mood. Not sure why though.
Well, I do need to call it a night, er morning and try to get some sleep. The team we play Saturday afternoon has a really good player and I need to be awake enough to concentrate.
LADYWOLF Love your intro to your menu. Everything looks delicious but I am intrigued by the bowl of chili, anyway I want it. How you going to get the bowl I want out of the Grand canyon? I know you can do everything. Be sure the cheddar on that chili is New England. We have contented cows.
Morning TRIBE!
The sun is up
The sky is blue
It’s beautiful
And so are you
Doc, the local store opened up its new wing today and it looks great, but it’ll probably slow me down for the next few weeks as the veggies, meats, deli items, baked breads etc have all been re-arranged, not to mention a few other things I’m forgetting to mention.
Grog, I read the local store opened up its new wing today and it looks great………….I don’t mind the rodents too much……. I must admit it stunned me for a minute.
Yes Grog I realized it afterward. My brain just still is not that alert yet. Spiders are usally okay. Not in the bathroom or within a 5 foot radius though.Unless I am just walking by it.
Doc, I’m sure the Kroger people will have the same problems you did. And there’s a space that they haven’t set up yet, so the confusion is just beginning.
Well, it didn’t take long but it’s starting to cloud over again. Good sleeping weather. Since I’m not going anywhere this aft, I think I’ll do just that. Let it rain (Again)
It is looking to be a nice day in the armpit of America. We had rain during the week and it broke the back of the current heat wave and it’s nice out there right now.
I went out to the Country Bumpkin today to check out the beads. A $5 off coupon is always nice, and I needed size 8 pink beads for a special order I have. It’s a nice little place, the selection of seed beads isn’t wonderful but I did find the center-hole tulip flowers I need to make fairies. That’s another day, though. Anyway…..I was reading the map upside down and ended up wandering all over the place. How long did it take me to find it? Lemme put it this way…my first priority was not the beads but the bath…..
So…I’m home, I hunger, let’s see what’s left…
Hmmm, a tablespoon of chili, scraps of meats and pastries and scrapings from the dishes of cobblers. Enough to tide me over until supper.
Uh….there’s this big, dark-brown glob flowing from under the table. It’s rearing up at me! Glowing Green on the bottom! Aiiieeeeee………
Hello and afternoon everyone. I guess I’m the last one on. We’ve had rain here somtimes heavy and lite. Rmom I think but not for sure on photb where your picture of Grandcayon?
Last night hubby and I want neighbors lighting expensive fireworks hard on dogs ears, big flowers blossoms.
Rmom I never had allegbra my daughter had to learn either at Cowley County or Hertiage but made it clear and other adult students no one is making sense of it. I told her when teachers learn they cannot explain outside of what they learn makes it hard for everyone.
I missed everyone. So I wish everyone a grand Indepence Day as we remember for the 4th of July.
I don’t know if I will be on later on BT. Sunday is church and I’ve got to get sleep. Each night it’s long after midnight. I am starting to reduce off one type of med.
Hello, Quaby, & Kab. Just dropping by for a bit to check up on things. I would say the weather was perfect this morning. Now it’s a lot like yesterday afternoon when I was stranded in Pasadena, (TX). Fortunately, I’m not going anwhere.
What’s the cool idea, Quaby?. You’ll find that most people here keep up with all the comments no matter when they are made.
Grog really I felt I was the last one. I think where starting to get weather only I hope not that extra wet here. Rain varies to light, strong, and none.
My daughter’s guy is a 4th of July baby. So we will help him celebrate Sunday.
Kab - I signed up as following your photobucket, so if you click on your followers, you can find my account that way.
Lots of rain here, too. I think we can blame Alex for it. My hubby & son worked on the siding this morning before it started. Now they’re working on vehicles inside the garage.
I’ve been doing laundry - thank goodness for having a washer AND dryer in this weather! Hanging on the line just wouldn’t work well. Hanging clothes out in the city wasn’t great, but okay. However out here, either the dust blows, or its raining, so neither type of weather gives that “nice clean outdoors smell” I’ve heard about.
Grog - Not much there other than the prison mowing crew to interest you. Mostly pictures of the truck we bought. I thought it would be easier for our insurance agent to access them that way. (We’ve stayed with our agent for years, even though he’s not in our “neck of the woods” so we do most things via email, phone & snail mail, rather than in person.)
RMOM Living in the civilized East, the snobs at our condo decided we were too high class to have clothes hanging.. Now I admit I’d rather have my ” delicate unmentionables” (yes they are a match to my gender) put in a dryer with softener (no I don’t put them on hot out of the dryer). BUT how I miss the smell of sheets and pillowcases off the line.
As Hyacinth Bucket would say, I’m Keeping Up Appearances.
Lew - I’ve never cared for line dried clothes - too stiff for my liking. Too much work, but when I was single and living paycheck to paycheck, I would handwash & line dry enough clothes to get me by until I could afford to go to the laundrymat. However, clothes lines do come in handy for drying electric blankets, sleeping bags, etc. Unfortunately, I have an extremely sensitive nose, and what I smell outdoors is more like the sewage lagoon than fresh alfalfa being cut.
Grog - Those are from the trip we took at Christmas, I think all the pictures were taken at Key Biscayne, with the exception of the one while we were waiting at a tollbooth. I have lots of pictures from Florida, because we’ve made lots of trips. However, I took more scenic shots without friends or family in the picture this time.
Rmom I’ve tried to get you on photob. I think Lonewolf gave me your sign in. Now mine is a little different then here.
I thought I had yours was beautiful Grand Canyon not the prisoners. I managed to get Ladywolf and Lonewolf but have a very difficult time with yours. This alergbra you teach my daughter would agree it is very difficult she and others as young adults convinced this teacher they where in for it and they didn’t like the subject.
When I was a kid my mom would dry clothes on a line, a lot of neighbors did that and stickers are not fun to walk in. I did this when I had children at this small house with big yard I hung clothes out then we had to move out grew the house and my hubby bought his parent’s house, which had no clothes line. Where we are at now there is no clothes line just 5 steps up and down. Bi-level.
I can’t believe this with having rainy weather here a few neighbors are shotting fireworks.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ALL AMERICANS AND ONES BORN ON 4TH OF JULY enjoy your day tomorrow. and Grog we are getting the aftereffects of the hurrican here in KS.
Kab - So, were you able to look at my Grand Canyon pictures?
I never have enjoyed Algebra, but we all have to do things we don’t enjoy. I’m not comprehending it 100%, but at least most of it. It does help that I’ve got the lessons on CD where I can watch them over and over again, if I want to. I know there are several math teachers who understand the subject, but can’t explain it to the students who aren’t naturals at math. So, sometimes it is an advantage for my son that I have to work so hard at getting the hang of a certain type of problem, because then I can explain all the steps that are just obvious to those who are more experienced. Also, he doesn’t feel stupid for not being able to grasp it quickly.
If I were to just pick one subject to teach, it would be History & Government, as that’s what I really enjoy. But I have to do all the subjects, not just the fun ones.
Rmom my daughter also found out there are teachers can’t explain algebra they go by what they learn without explaining further and it’s worse by computer, students can’t question computers software. So I hope the CD room you have gives a lot more explanation then my daughter received. Yea and I found your beautiful Grand Canyon pictures you did it justice taking those gorgeous pictures. I believe I also saw those prisoners picking up trash and the sheriff’s/guards on horseback
What type of dog do you have?
I just wanted to make sure that was you rmom. Mine is a little harder. Kab is correct but the last few is a little different. And I only have pictures of what someone else took nothing of my own.
Tell your son there are a lot of students even young adults who don’t get alergbra. My daughter went to Cheney school and sadly didn’t get what she needed, a teacher spoked me, and when instructors found out they understand why.
Having a digital camera makes it fairly easy. If I had to scan photos, I wouldn’t post many.
Our dog died a few years ago. He looked mostly Great Pyranees, but had Chow & Shepherd blood. (At least from what we can figure out. He had a partial black tongue which I guess only Chows have black tongues. His litter mates looked like Shepherds, in fact the vet (that “fixed” both dogs) said our dog’s sister could pass for a purebred Shepherd.) As you can tell, he was a very large dog.
Hi, Ladywolf!Kab - At least I was a decent math student in school, but I deal best in real numbers, so I only took 2 years of math in high school. (One year was required.) I dread to think what kind of education our sons would have had in the public schools. Our oldest had reading difficulties, and our youngest was reading early (and big words!) Neither one would have done well in a classroom full of kids.
Hello Ladywolf Have you been able to see any fireworks, not the ones I posted. And if you have read the comments yest I finally got rmom picture took a while. I had Lonewolf’s but may have lost it. I seen yours Ladywolf and yours are fun to.
Well Rmom you really did a great job of the Grand Canyon. I just wish I could have vacation time but pt doesn’t get it. And where I work at there are depts where people have left they have filled the positions and I am hearing a slow down. The place is not advertising or aircraft. I don’t plan on giving it out as word is not out.
I wasn’t a fan of algebra, but at least I passed them. Then there was Calculus. There was a particular class that I had to take twice before I barely passed. I think they passed me out of pity the last time. Took a real big hit on my GPA because of it. At least as I continued through University, the grades got better the more I got into courses that were of interest to me.
Grog that’s good. I’m thinking I might have to go to Jr. college but at 54 and by then 55 I will have even worse time with the employers. They all say they don’t discriminate yea right.
Ladywolf enjoy being young. How easy was algebra for you?
For a change I plan on not being up past midnight and try to get some sleep. It was after 2 am before I could. Last week was bad for sleep. I fought going out in the living room to read. It’s surpising though pills I’m taking would make one wonder why I can’t fall asleep. Have to leave chocolate along to.
Grog - I was rather sneaky in college, of course this was back in the days of only mainframes, so it wouldn’t be possible now. I didn’t go to college immediately, then I went to a junior college for a year (9 hrs @ sem.) while I also worked. Then moved back to Wichita, and would take 1 or 2 classes a semester on top of working full time. I was still a freshman, but just the right age to be a senior, so I was able to take a lot of business classes that the only prequisite was to be a senior. Much more enjoyable and practical for me, as I realized at that point there was little chance I’d get a bachelor’s degree. (Never worked for an employer who would pay my college, and my parents wouldn’t contribute a dime, so it was all out of my pocket.)
I never took Calculus. I enrolled in Statistics, but withdrew because I quickly realized I was in over my head and needed more math to take it. My hubby’s got the degrees (associate & bachelor’s) but his parents would support him & pay his college if he went full-time, so he did 3 years that way. The fourth was after we were married, but his employer would reimburse. I would have liked to get a degree, but my parents expected us to put ourselves through and support ourselves after we turned 18. I refused to go in debt for school, and never qualified for any grants.
Rmom, I was lucky. The company I work(ed) for payed most of my tuition except for the class I failed. I did most of my time at night…and a lot of the early ones were the dreaded 8:10 to 11PM time slots including those dreaded calculus courses. Murder on an early morning riser such as myself.
I also took statistic and passed those courses, but no, not with flying colors. I excelled in Finance courses, Accounting (particularly Accounting Info Systems) & Marketing. I also had to take 2 electives out of my disciplie. One of those electives was a course in Canadian Criminal Law.
Canadian criminal Law was very interesting. Thoroughly enjoyed it. My professor was willing to write a recommendation for law school because I landed in the top 5. But I wouldn’t dream of becoming one of those I despised.
Ladywolf sometimes I wonder. My body is ready but my mind won’t shut off. That’s why I’m careful of anything to do with caffeen and lately I’ve had no caffeen and still trouble. See I take 3 types of pills from a specialist now trying to taper off. Pain, muscle and nerve. And the muscle pill he wants me to continue and this effects me all over. May have to do with my Rt shoulde. There are times I can sleep fine and other times no. Gets real frustrating and I feel it.
Well early for me good night all. It’s been a pleasure visiting and talking about education. Not sure with these pills I could consentrate I have enough time with pleasure reading.
Grog - Yes, I won against the good player, but it doesn’t mean much if we don’t win as a team. Kind of like scoring a touchdown, but the other teams wins the game.
Grog - I would probably have pulled a decent grade in my accounting class if the homework wasn’t part of my grade. I just had a hard time making myself do all that imaginary accounting, when I was working full-time in accounting AND doing books by hand for a stained glass hobby I was trying to make into a business.
My youngest is going to major in accounting. When we were discussing the marketability of that major, I mentioned the IRS. He said he didn’t want to have to “sell his soul.” I told him that he could be an accountant who fights the IRS, so then he was okay with that.
WSU has a great entrepreneur department, and I took a few of those classes. Having a professor who advised Frank & Dan Carney (Pizza Hut founders) and many others, made it anything other than boring.
I can guarantee I won’t be up to do breakfast. Even if am, I just don’t see well enough with my bifocals (vs. contacts) to do much at all on the computer. So, once I take my contacts out for the night, that pretty much does it for me until morning when I put them back in.
As I stated, Rmom, all me courses were at night, because I, too, had my day job. Initially in the mail room, then Accounting and then as part of Financial Analysis & Planning. For my last 7 classes, I put enough money aside to take a leave of absence to do my courses during the day. It seemed like the right thing to do for 2 reasons: First, to get it done with; and secondly because a few of the courses I was interested in taking were only available druing the day-time schedule.
I am typing on my brand new keyboard. I have yet to spill Nuclear Coffee on it! It says it is guaranteed for life. We will definitely be testing that theory. Okay I will try to be nice to the new keyboard. I think I will be able to plug it into laptops as well. Seeing as how I have a tendency to drop keyboards on the floor I didn’t go for the most expensive model.
When I woke up today. Surprise! Someone was sleeping in Monkey 2’s bed. Thankfully it was Monkey 2. We bought some shiny stuff and a few clothes. She is gone now.
I get to go pretend to be entertaining, if I am lucky I will be back before 11pm. I am going to try to leave in time to make it for turnover but I doubt it.
Grog - I think there is a lot to be said for getting your education as you work in the field you major in, or at least are “rubbing elbows” with them. I’ve got a brother with a Finance degree, but put himself through college doing construction work. Never could find a job in his chosen field - either unexperienced, or over-qualified. My husband was majoring in engineering when we met, but he was too busy having fun, and got kicked out for low grades. (He already had an Associate in BA.) Finally took entered a “degree completion program” to get his Bachelor’s. Those were new, so all they had to offer was “Human Resources Mgmt.” Now he tells people that he has a degree in basket weaving. He’s an engineer now, but that’s because of his work experience. But if he didn’t have the bachelor’s degree, he wouldn’t have been able to get the experience. He does have a knack for the skills needed to do what he does.
I was in danger of getting kicked out, too, Rmom, particularly after failing that calculus course. I was in the councilor’s office a couple times for that specific reason. The final time was to change majors to Finance. I ended up minoring in Accounting.
Hi, Luv!
I like having a full-sized keyboard plugged into my laptop. I prefer the cheaper ones, too. Then I don’t feel too bad if I mistreat it.
Bye, Luv!
I was not a big fan of Batman, but this movie has Burgess Merredith, Caesar Romero & I think Frank Gorshwin as the Penguin, Joker & Ridler respectively. A classic, however, I’m still quite tired right now.

Hi, Quaby! I think it will be a quiet weekend under the BT. Seems like holidays usually are. See you later, Terry!

Sigh
The one time I can stay a while and have a cool idea (or at least what I think is a cool idea) everyone is gone.
Sigh
Well, I’ll just wander off into a corner of the cave and wait to try again another day.
May everyone’s weather be perfect and any prices better than just right.

Hello, Rmom. I think I’ll take a look at your Houston photos before I start getting things read for dinner. Thanks for the inadvertent reminder.

Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago

But I have to do all the subjects, not just the fun ones.
kab2rb over 14 years ago
Rmom my daughter also found out there are teachers can’t explain algebra they go by what they learn without explaining further and it’s worse by computer, students can’t question computers software. So I hope the CD room you have gives a lot more explanation then my daughter received. Yea and I found your beautiful Grand Canyon pictures you did it justice taking those gorgeous pictures. I believe I also saw those prisoners picking up trash and the sheriff’s/guards on horseback What type of dog do you have?
kab2rb over 14 years ago

Hi, Ladywolf! Kab - At least I was a decent math student in school, but I deal best in real numbers, so I only took 2 years of math in high school. (One year was required.) I dread to think what kind of education our sons would have had in the public schools. Our oldest had reading difficulties, and our youngest was reading early (and big words!) Neither one would have done well in a classroom full of kids.

Hello, Rmom, Kab, & Ladywolf
I wasn’t a fan of algebra, but at least I passed them. Then there was Calculus. There was a particular class that I had to take twice before I barely passed. I think they passed me out of pity the last time. Took a real big hit on my GPA because of it. At least as I continued through University, the grades got better the more I got into courses that were of interest to me.
kab2rb over 14 years ago
Grog that’s good. I’m thinking I might have to go to Jr. college but at 54 and by then 55 I will have even worse time with the employers. They all say they don’t discriminate yea right. Ladywolf enjoy being young. How easy was algebra for you? For a change I plan on not being up past midnight and try to get some sleep. It was after 2 am before I could. Last week was bad for sleep. I fought going out in the living room to read. It’s surpising though pills I’m taking would make one wonder why I can’t fall asleep. Have to leave chocolate along to.

Hi Grog.
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
(Never worked for an employer who would pay my college, and my parents wouldn’t contribute a dime, so it was all out of my pocket.) I never took Calculus.

Grog - Yes, I won against the good player, but it doesn’t mean much if we don’t win as a team. Kind of like scoring a touchdown, but the other teams wins the game.
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
Would you please be so kind as to do that for us once again, Ladywolf?
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago

Hi Everyone!
