Morning TRIBE! Printer broke down last night. Used the compacted pillow repair for 8 hours. Works like a charm.
I wish I could leave early, but I have to go over to the tech center this afternoon. It could be a long afternoon, but at least the drive home will be a lot closer.
Good morning/afternoon/evening all. May I have four very young chickens over easy with bacon and sausage and tater tots with an ice cold Coca Cola please?
Good Morning, Digital Frog, Rmom, MisngNOLA & LuvH8
Doctor Toon, even a Staycation is good if youâve got projects or activities to keep you busy, but better still if you can get a normal weeks wages out of it.
I wish we had a calendar or something with everybodyâs birthday, anniversay etc. listed so SOME of us [and not only me, by the way] wouldnât miss them. Any way I hope your birthday is the best with all the peace and love you could wish for.
Thanks, Serena! I did make a âcheatsheetâ with birthdays, now I just have to remember to look at it. However, I donât have everyoneâs birthdates.
Thanks, Sojo! Those are some great Africa pictures your friend took! Where did he/she take them? My hubby & I went to Africa waaaay back in 1986, and saw wildlife in Krueger Park. Your friend must have had a very good zoom lens to get some of those shots.
Rmom - She and others were on a mission trip and had a couple days off for sightseeing. Iâm not sure who took which pictures (were all using small digital camers) and did not show other photos to not show people on the public web. It was in Uganda. There are more photos of the rhinoceros but like one I showed they are blurred (probably taken while running!). To see the rhinoceros a few followed game wardens with rifles (on foot) to find them. Were told to run away as fast as they could if the rhinoceros charged! The game wardens would yell and throw sticks and stones to try to stop them so they wouldnât have to shoot unless needed. After being charged twice they had to leave!
Sojo - We were on a mission trip too, but went to Swaziland. Krueger Park is a game preserve in South Africa. Our pictures were taken before digital cameras, so we donât have near as many as we would take if we went now. Plus, my hubby had the camera with the bigger zoom. He likes to take a long time to set up a shot, which doesnât work well in moving vehicles. (Weâd only been married a couple of years then. That was one experience that taught me to have my own camera, instead of trying to share one with him!)
Trying to take pictures of animals was like a live action âWhereâs Waldo?â game. You look at the vegetation, and try to spot the animals hiding, although you donât know which animals you might find.
Rmom - âWhereâs Waldoâ is something I might put into the title of the photo of the large tree. If you zoom in and look closely you can find a leopard.
I saw the sunset you took, that was beautiful. When I had a paper route as a kid a saw all sunrises had decided that they were usually better than sunsets. Today itâs hard to take photos of either one without vapor trails showing in them. (if your good and have the time at least you can remove them with software now!)
Sojo - Considering where you live, you probably have a lot of vapor trails. We get some air traffic overhead, but not as much, so I havenât done any retouching. Cropping is about the only thing I bother doing with the software, although I know how to do more.
~ Middle Age ~
There are three signs of old age. The first is your loss of memory, the other two I forget.
Happy Birfday, RRAMom!
Good Afternoon, All,
especially, but not limited to: Grog, the Sojourner, â Lonewolfâ , Digital Frog, & Rmom (the birthday girl).
Itâs only barfday if you eat too much birfday cake and ice cream, and then go running around the house like little bansheesâor get into the liquor cabinet.
Bmonk - Well, I canât do some of those things. No liquor cabinet, and the birthday cake was polished off earlier in the week (thanks to my sons helping!) If I try to run in the house, it would sound more like a herd of charging elephants than little banshees, and Iâd probably hurt myself as klutzy as I am. If I try to eat too much ice cream, Iâd get an âice cream headacheâ before I could eat enough to make me barf. Thankfully, that means there is little chance of having to clean up that kind of mess. I was so thankful when my youngest got old enough to get to a bucket, etc. before barfing.
He was: son of an ex-Jesuit, who was alienated from the Catholic Churchâuntil his wife, a Presbyterian, discovered monastics and fell in love. And a mathematician, poet, and linguist.
RMOM Iâd take you out dancing if your parents would let you stay out late.
TRIBE I remember when I voted for the What Me Worry kid. Alfred E Newman did so good that one candidate only took one state. Now if we could do that to both candidates,ââ
Lew - Youâd have a real difficult time getting my parentsâ permission considering theyâre both deceased. My husband might object, and heâs still living.
Carmy! I donât know! I have to work, and Iâm usually tired when I get home. Friday is busy for me too. I have to go down to the college that I will be attending for an orientation to get my class schedule.
@DocT, looks like we get mid-50s to hi-70s till the weekend. High chance of rain through Friday night. But I donât begrudge cooler weather to the many whoâve been enduring the 90s and higher this past week.
Bmonk, nope, nothing going on here. I did recently take a road trip to South Texas. I said hello and goodbye to Hurricane Alex and went to South Padre Island on the 4th of July.
I have to make dinner. Iâll try to BBL.
Sojo - I understand about the extremes, but weâre in a place that gets both below 0 and above 100. Iâve not done too well with the extremes either. I usually run colder (really cold fingers & toes) than most people, but if I get too hot, Iâve been known to faint. Thank goodness most places in KS have central heat & a/c now!
Hi, Grog! I ran across an old joke in my files about the Yankee that moved to Texas, and how he couldnât handle the hot weather. But it didnât seem to fit you that well, especially because I know this isnât your first summer in TX.
Rmom - Hot weather used to not bother me, I worked on harvest two years from Okla. to Mont., rode bicycles across KS and other places sometimes over 100 miles a day over 100 degrees, also long ditances in freezing temps. Rode the Goldwing two hours at 11 below without problem. Now however that kind of thing would be hard to do if not impossible.
Rmom, I found it hard to adjust to Emontonâs climate when I moved from Montreal. I didnât wear shorts there often, but one of the natives wore shorts, regardless of conditions from April to October.
It makes me wonder how a Texan would feel under the same circumstances.
Sojo - I started noticing the heat bothering me when I was a teenager.
I was working at McDonaldâs in the summer and their a/c was broken. Passed out in the middle of taking a customerâs order.
So, when I was in high school (same year I think), I carried a box fan from one classroom to the next during the âdog daysâ of August, because the one box fan per classroom didnât always get aimed at me. I was extremely popular - everyone wanted to sit by me!
Grog - I know there are some people around here who persist in wearing shorts, even when it gets nippy. My sons arenât that way, but Iâve seen plenty of kids around their age (both males & females) who are in shorts when the temps are cold enough that most people are wearing jackets.
Yes, Carmy. And Iâd like to get off to an early start tomorrow, if at possible and beat the morning rush to at least get to the north side of town. Hopefully Iâll leave by 5 AM.
Grog - It doesnât look too likely Iâll get a ârealâ vacation this year. Hubbyâs work is too busy, and any time he takes off work he will need to be working on the siding, etc.
Quick pop in to say Have a GREAT VACATION FELLOW BABY! Maybe if youâre listening to the radio, you might hear Dr. Fever or Venus! I hear they went to a station down that way! :-D
Rmom, though I get 5 weeks vacation, itâs usually difficult to string 5 days together, especially in the summer. I try to get away once a year, if only for a long week-end. I need the change of scenery.
Thanks, Sojourner & Fellow Baby!
& Fellow Baby that would be awesome, but I thought Johnny worked in Amarillo (the armpit of Texas). I had to visit that area on business nuerous times on business, but Iâd never vacation there! NEVER!
Grog - I understand! I remember scheduling my vacation around the IRS deadlines, etc. The trip to Africa was the only time I took more than one week together, even though after 5 years, I had 3 weeks vacation.
Much has been said today about Texas summers compared to summers elsewhere. Well, I grew up in NW Ohio and spent my latter teen years (and some of my 20âs) in Tucson, AZ. (with occasional visits to much hotter places in Arizona and California), and Iâm tempted to tell my fellow Texans, âYou folks donât know what heat is - not if you live in Houston, anyway.â Yes, itâs bad here in Houston, what with the humidity raising the heat index to ridiculous highs, but I have a little story to tellâŠ
Back in July 1993 I attended a conference in Harrisburg, PA. When I got to that area I felt like I was coming home; the terrain and the climate âresonatedâ with this born-and-bred Buckeye. There was one unforgettable, sweltering day with mostly clear skies and thunderheads scattered here and there. A woman from the Deep South (I forget just where) exclaimed in my presence, âI thought I was USED to this!â With a knowing grin that only a native to that part of the country could wear, I replied, âThereâs nothing quite like a Midwestern summer.â :)
Good evening and night everyone or who is left. I just read Rmom about middle age so funny. She or whoever could add about the upâs and downâs of sleeping for middle age.
Iâm over middle age heading end of the year to double nickle.
I know Iâm definatly too way late to wish Grog a great vacation. Iâm pt and I donât get one.
Iâm also glad Ladywolf is going to college. Me I advised my own daughter Jr. college first then move on. I glad Ladywolf is one smart young lady.
I guess this is my night of not getting to sleep and itâs heading to 11pm.
I wished I lived near the comic-com convention. I like to visit some of the creatorâs of comic strips there. There is one from gocomics that will be there.
Hello Ladywolf I hope Iâm not here for breakfast. I might have to turn off computer as the room Iâm in is diagonal to master room, and I have a lamp light facing to window.
What type of college courses are you taking you smart young girl I envy?
Your little lion or lepard cub with BD greetings so cute.
When we went to AR during summer to say goodbye to my hubbyâs brother he short battle and died of cancer, it would take much for the car windows to fog up. and when one got between OK and KS major difference.
Now that sports medicine sounds cool. Photography there are people doing that to make a living. I know I have a cousin that is doing exactly that after he got laid off.
Where my daughter had her hs graduation pictures done a few years later the photo place left I guess the guy retired.
You have some fun stuff on photob. On your short storyâs you right have you thought about submitting to readerâs digest?

Itâs called being creative. This writing group could get a novel going. Good imagination. I hope not like the strip from C&H.
I forgot, part of middle age, what type of stories you write.
Iâve been reading a novel on a murder mystery over half done and a lot of twist. So far the murder and trying to solve it has been done in a weekâs time. A Dr. is in trouble suspected of murdering a Director of a hospital.
Sleep is not going to happen for me :(
Shucks. Since you have to get up tomorrow donât let me keep you. I have a am Dr.âs appointment about lab tests. I sorta get used to at time of no sleep then other time I sleep. No caffeen either. And I read what you told me about sleep problems, the only problem is Iâm an early riser at about 6:30am to 7am.
I guess I better go. Have fun with your menu Ladywolf I didnât mean to bore you.
Sounds interesting. What type? Itâs almost 11:30 pm here. I can read you answer later work hard on your writing.
You sound like a busy creative young lady and a job too. Soon college will keep you hoping. I just wish you had your younger friendâs to talk to.
Time for me to go to other room. Looks like it will be much later for sleep. Good night again Ladywolf I enjoyed our visit you talented young lady.

Middle age is having a choice of two temptations and choosing the one that will get you home earlier.

Lew, the audacity! Rmom is a happily married woman! Tsk, tsk!
ladywolf17 over 14 years ago
Carmy! I donât know! I have to work, and Iâm usually tired when I get home. Friday is busy for me too. I have to go down to the college that I will be attending for an orientation to get my class schedule.

Arenât you a comic lover? It starts tomorrow and runs till Sunday. Surely you can swing by there. You can get some cool photos!
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Carmy - Maybe Lew is operating under my policy âIt doesnât hurt to askâŠâ
carmy over 14 years ago
Rmom, maybe so. (I hope you know I was joking.)
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Carmy - No worries here. I know weâre all having fun.

See you all later. I got to take off.

Good Afternoon Everyone!
Hi, Doc. Still 88° here!
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
Hello, Ladywolf, Rmom, Sojo, Lewreader & Carmy
bmonk over 14 years ago
@DocT, looks like we get mid-50s to hi-70s till the weekend. High chance of rain through Friday night. But I donât begrudge cooler weather to the many whoâve been enduring the 90s and higher this past week.
George Arnold over 14 years ago
Bye Ladywolf
Hello â Lonewolfâ , glad itâs not too hot there either. Itâs 96 here right now.
bmonk over 14 years ago
Hello, Carmy! Anything going on by you?
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
And I was thinking 88 was hot, Sojo! LOL
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
Catch you later Ladywolf.

bmonk over 14 years ago
@DocT, me tooâwhich is why I donât mind professing stability to West Dakota. I can handle -20 a whole lot better than +100.
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
Iâm with you guys on the cooler weather temps!! LOL
bmonk over 14 years ago
Anything over 80, and definitely 85, means staying where itâs cool as long as utterly possible.
carmy over 14 years ago
Bmonk, nope, nothing going on here. I did recently take a road trip to South Texas. I said hello and goodbye to Hurricane Alex and went to South Padre Island on the 4th of July. I have to make dinner. Iâll try to BBL.
George Arnold over 14 years ago
Bye Carmy
I can usually handle the heat better then the cold but as I am getting older I guess I donât really care for either extreme!
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
Same here, Bmonk.
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Hi, Doc! It is still plenty warm here. 94F and 52% humidity.
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Sojo - I understand about the extremes, but weâre in a place that gets both below 0 and above 100. Iâve not done too well with the extremes either. I usually run colder (really cold fingers & toes) than most people, but if I get too hot, Iâve been known to faint. Thank goodness most places in KS have central heat & a/c now!

Hello Rmom, bmonk, Ladywolf (sorry I missed you) Carmy (same), â Lonewolfâ , Sojourner, Doctor Toon & anyone else I may have missed.
I donât like extremes either, but Iâd rather be too hot than any degree of cold.
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Hi, Grog! I ran across an old joke in my files about the Yankee that moved to Texas, and how he couldnât handle the hot weather. But it didnât seem to fit you that well, especially because I know this isnât your first summer in TX.
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
Rmom, no far from it. A summer in Texas makes a summer in Edmonton feel like winter.
George Arnold over 14 years ago
Rmom - Hot weather used to not bother me, I worked on harvest two years from Okla. to Mont., rode bicycles across KS and other places sometimes over 100 miles a day over 100 degrees, also long ditances in freezing temps. Rode the Goldwing two hours at 11 below without problem. Now however that kind of thing would be hard to do if not impossible.
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Grog - I can believe it! Just spending a week at my in-laws in PA during August was nippy enough that I didnât want to wear shorts.

Rmom, I found it hard to adjust to Emontonâs climate when I moved from Montreal. I didnât wear shorts there often, but one of the natives wore shorts, regardless of conditions from April to October.
It makes me wonder how a Texan would feel under the same circumstances.
George Arnold over 14 years ago
Hello Saucy1121
Have to do something for a bit. BBL
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Sojo - I started noticing the heat bothering me when I was a teenager. I was working at McDonaldâs in the summer and their a/c was broken. Passed out in the middle of taking a customerâs order. So, when I was in high school (same year I think), I carried a box fan from one classroom to the next during the âdog daysâ of August, because the one box fan per classroom didnât always get aimed at me. I was extremely popular - everyone wanted to sit by me!

Hello Saucy
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Hi & thanks, Saucy!
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Grog - I know there are some people around here who persist in wearing shorts, even when it gets nippy. My sons arenât that way, but Iâve seen plenty of kids around their age (both males & females) who are in shorts when the temps are cold enough that most people are wearing jackets.

GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
Rmom, though I get 5 weeks vacation, itâs usually difficult to string 5 days together, especially in the summer. I try to get away once a year, if only for a long week-end. I need the change of scenery.
Thanks, Sojourner & Fellow Baby!
& Fellow Baby that would be awesome, but I thought Johnny worked in Amarillo (the armpit of Texas). I had to visit that area on business nuerous times on business, but Iâd never vacation there! NEVER!

Sports medicine and photography to start out with. Iâm sure Iâll pick more by Friday.

When we went to AR during summer to say goodbye to my hubbyâs brother he short battle and died of cancer, it would take much for the car windows to fog up. and when one got between OK and KS major difference.

I have interest also in Physical therapy, but may have to transfer for that course.
