Our first night in sitting out to watch the stars and meteor shower……saw 4 satellites, and NINE meteorites!!!!! most had really long firery tails…..woo hoo. our first night of clear skies and VERY cold…!!!!
But, it was worth it.
So, I”ll have a very hot chocolate now, and a very late breakfast later, Grog! And don’t forget the black Nuclear Coffee.
Thanks very much…..:))))
Grog: I’ll have one of everything, but since
I am on a diet….without sprinkles.
Good morning to all..or good night. I just
figured out that when its 1:30 in the East,
it is only 10:30 in the West. That is the
sort of thing that caused me not to major
in math. So it’s breakfast for some and
midnight lunch for others. But the party
goes on. LOLAL
GROG, I need a real He Man breakfast. I’ll take two of everything (top that *BARGROVE.) I’ve been left all alone for the weekend without the tender love and attention of SHE WHO MUST BE OBEYED. As Garfield would say, “We’re bachelors, right?” Been living on frozen bean burritos and powdered lemonade in my boxers watching the John Wayne marathon. Got to remember to put the lid down before she gets home.
Morning TRIBE! How long does it take for frozen bean burritos to stop working their manly magic? She’s due at 5 so I should stop by what,3? Do emergency maid services work on Sunday?
GROG..When you pop back, I want you to know that is one awesome menu and I will starve until you can get up some eggs over medium, Canadian bacon, wheat toast, fruit AND a double serving of chocolate turtles!!!
MONTANA LADY..Glad you got to see the showers and thanks for the cooler weather you sent down our way!

Tune is ‘Feed the Birds’, the only time I heard it was the Brothers Four, but I suspect it was written by someone else.
GOOD MORNING TRIBE
In the oven is a ton of chuck roast, and there will be mashed potatoes and gravy by the gallon. It will be rolled in about 1pm EDT for your eating pleasure.
I just found an oil leak on my Ford Ranger oil pan. It is rusted so badly. Quite a job to replace too. Unbolting the motor mounts and lifting the engine about 6-8 inches. Ugh!
♠Lonewolf♠ - Sounds like a real pain. Reminds me of a car (I think in the late ’70s) that was made forgeting the clearance needed for the spark plugs. In order to change the plugs the engine also needed to be raised! That was when plugs needed changed every few thousand miles I think.
♠Lonewolf♠ - In the 80’s a friend at work bought a new pick-up, looked nice as there wasn’t the normal trim on it. He got a cracked windshield. In order to replace it the roof of the truck had to be cut off, welded back on and then painted. $1,500.00 back then! Yea engineers!
Hi, tribe!Sojo - Did you get some rain? I was napping, and the storm front woke me up.
Terry - My hubby’s closer to you right now than to me. He’s between flights right now, on the way to Toronto.
Grog - I hope he has an easier time entering Canada than last time. I thought briefly about going, but my passport is expired, and we’d have to pay for my own expenses.
Sojo - I’ve been too busy to check our rain gauge. We’ve got some puddles, but I think the rains didn’t last long enough to really give us that much. Hopefully enough for the farmers, and to keep the fire danger down.
Rmom, The Sojouner we saw the rain coming in west of Wichita a line from far south to north, sigh alas didn’t last long but brought cooler temps. 68. Yea!!!!!!
Stop AC fo awhile. Yea!!!!!!!
For rain started about 1:30pm heard rumbles to. Now just cloudy and woke me up. I was at my mom’s house got sleepy there. She has no computer or internet connection just basic TV. Though I rather read.
Rmom - It rained heavy for a bit. Intellacast still shows 0” for last 3 hours. I don;t know when that will update as they show the temp. for 3:30. Last night they show 0.07” but I think I had more than that.
Kab - It is even cold inside here. I have the thermostat programmed to be cooler at night, as it is hard to fall asleep if the bedroom is over 80 degrees. After the power failure, my hubby reset the clock on it, but mistakenly got the AM & PM mixed up.
Rmom that’s funny. How long was your power out. Our went out yesterday for hour. Got real hot upstairs not so much lower level. Yea Yea I know heat rises.
Don’t know about The Sojouner we opened our windows don’t know for how long. Feels so good cool air coming better then A/C.
Kab - I think a couple of hours. Our bedroom is the top level, so it can get pretty hot up there. It took me a while to figure out what was wrong with the thermostat - I had to put my reading glasses on to tell it said “AM”, so I’m guessing that’s why he made the mistake - he probably didn’t put his on.
It’s quiet right now, Kab, but that means more dessert for us. Chocolate cake, chocolate icing and chocolate ice cream with hot chocolate fudge over the entire enchilada. This dessert is guaranteed to be hypo-allergenic, fat free and calorie free!! Enjoy!
Sojo - The weather station that’s just a couple miles from me reported .15 of an inch. I think the storms moved through so fast, that it didn’t leave that much rain behind.
I just hope my hubby can enjoy some cooler weather this week, but Allen V (on Garfield today) just said it is hot in Toronto today. Haven’t checked the temps to see what he thinks hot is.
Rmom I know the feeling I have to wear glasses, I have bificals since 28. Uper for distance and lower to read. Even computer screens have to use lower. Sorry I think it’s funny. Depends on how small print ones has to set thermostat.
Oh Quaby thanks so very much just what the Dr. ordered add some nuts and we can go wild. Oh so delicious I may have 2nds. You promise I can sleep to night? I have some problems with chocolate and especially more with fudge chocolate.
Kab - Both my hubby & I were at least 40 before we had to start using reading glasses.
Quaby - This one is a pain, because not only do I have to set the time, I have to set the day of the week each time we have a power failure. If I don’t, it goes to their default setting which is about 4 degrees colder than the coolest we want. And of course, it only has + and - keys to use for setting. I try to have battery-powered (or battery backup) clocks as much as possible, because it isn’t uncommon to have power outages here.
Where we used to live further west power failers where comon and frustrating to have to set everything.
Quaby I add more to your ice creat treat so we all can have a great time. Windy here. Rain didn’t last long and went fast. But left behind cooler temps.
It is rather interesting to see what happens when we have a power failure, considering everyone has a laptop or tablet computer. But even though they can run on batteries, the router doesn’t, so no internet.
I ended up reading some old jokes by flashlight, then the boys played chess by light from a couple of kerosene lanterns.
I don’t have a lap top have to save money for this. When our power went off just sat, hubby though went outside to pull weeds. Rmom I do agree with you a pain to reset everything.
Quaby I don’t remember where part of state you live at. By now you know which part where in.
I forgot to say ya made me very happy with all chocolate desert.
I’m leaving for awhile news is on and I might go outside and soak it up.
I’m just glad it didn’t last real long, and wasn’t in winter. It is a pain to have to throw away food, and carry in firewood. We’ve had a couple times (ice storms) where the power’s been out for days. But at least the warmer weather outages are usually shorter than that, but less predictable for advance preparation, too.
Kab RL intruded for a bit. Dessert will not keep you awake. Add what you want, but I can’t guarantee it being hypo-allergenic, fat free and calorie free. And I’ve never said where I live, just the ‘armpit of the universe’. I’m cautious online, though I did spill the beans about 9 months ago about gender, etc, so I fessed up with some facts like I’m female, (now) 56, have a 27 year old son and my hubby is unemployed.
Rain didn’t last long here either.
Considering I crashed after such a lovely meal this afternoon I’m behind in my kitchen cleaning. It was a lovely nap, though, I really can’t wait until I can get back into bed and try to recapture that nice, deep sleep.
Quaby your two years ahead of me. National news announced about Craigslist killer is killed to in his cell.
I always told my daughter be very careful on internet. I try as much as I can, I mentioned I’m pt for dept office, hubby retired two adult kids, and needing to go to Jr. college. Also from KS big area.
Like so many have said none of us no’s who each is.’ It’s 73 here.
Finished the jigsaw I’ve been working since Saturday. 4 hours cumulative time, and some of that was nodding off at the keyboard so I think it was closer to 3.5. But it was a challenge!! I almost gave up a few times but I kept pushing.
Quaby - We can’t watch those, because we can’t get any programs except via the internet. Our TV is too old, and can’t be hooked up to a computer, either. If I have trouble, usually a relaxing bath and something to read helps.
Doctor Toon,. something ain’t right here. I have a Very Strong Coffee Avatar and you don’t. I know that you’re staff for several cats (several, right?), but really shouldn’t you strive to maintain Some Little Part of Your Reputation? :)
I put the link to the original image in the thread some few days back. I can make arrangements to create a link to this specific button (unless you just want to download it from my profile) if you prefer.
Good evening KAB, Rmom, Quaby and to anyone else peeking in or stopping by.
You Witchita area people have had a truly pleasant day in the 70’s according to our KC weather person. We have enjoyed low 80’s and low humidity. Wonderful change, huh! Only had 1/2 inch rain from storm 2 nights ago. No storms since. When I went out to leave some food for our stray cat, it was hard to realize I had stepped outside the temp felt so good.
The longest we were without power was 18 hours in a winter ice storm several years ago. I’m keeping my fingers crossed. Bye for now.
The longest we were out of power was in ‘67 (?) when Bulula trashed the Valley in Texas. I was in Brownsville, we lived on a recacha (sp) and the water came up to the last step up. We were out of power about 2 weeks. Last power outage longer than a few hours was Floyd in ‘99, just a shade over 24.
Hi, Wolfie! - You’re making me hungry! I didn’t really have lunch, just a light snack. Now I need to figure out something for supper.
Quaby - I think about 3 days has been our maximum. However, my mom was in Wichita during that same ice storm, and it was well over a week before her power was back on. I’m glad we installed a wood stove for Y2K. Didn’t need it for that, but it has come in handy for ice storms.
I didn’t worry much about Y2K, but I did take out $200 just in case the populace went nutso for a day or two. Nothing happened. I do like the Family Guy where they have Y2K and they come out and start dissing Peter because nothing happened, then planes fall out of the sky, there are nuclear explosions, etc etc. That’s the one where Stewie turns into an octopus.
Terry - I’m doing pretty good. Having a very relaxing day, now that I got hubby to the airport. It sure is nice now that my sons are older, they can actually be quiet, and I’m not too worried about what they’re up to now.
How are you?
Rmom, we are grilling burgers and dogs tonight. With that we’ll have homemade fries and corn on the cob. My favorite burger is mushroom and swiss cheese!
Have fun, Doc!Terry - Sounds like a great spread! I’ll skip the mushrooms, and I can only have virtual corn on the cob now. Homemade french fries are the best, I don’t think any other kind are worth eating.
I think I’m going to settle down & read “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer”, so good night!
I actually feel really good, and my day was made even better when I found out that a question that I answered recently on Yahoo Answers was picked best answer. It makes me feel really good to know that I helped someone out. :-)
LONEWOLF…for a person who is has been eating my way through a vegetarian burger, your MUSHROOM BURGER WITH SWISS CHEESE IS MAKING ME DROOOOOOL! yum-yum corn of the cob and homemade fries…I may have to ditch my plan!!!
Good evening who is left. Ladywolf I had an idea but been going for ever and you probably knew as well. How I can save major money on text books. I’m gave the bookstore a list of books I need in return I asked for a list of author’s name, subject, and edition.
Why spend out a lot of money on subject I’m taking when I can get for far less. Now that is positive thinking since this will be done on line. Will have to pay class cost though.
I figure you already knew this and I’m not a last minute type.
I found out to relax to get ready for sleep no comics but reading a book. Soon I hope to start getting prepared for class ahead of time so to be prepared.
Rmom I saw that news article and hope there where A/c going for that poor guy. There was also on news about an unfortunate bear who head got stuck in a jar for 3 to 4 days no food or water. Don’t know how it became unstuck wouldn’t want to be around a hungry bear who should be greatfull to be free. I hope you read this.
Lonewolf you made me sorta of hungry, no offense though I have to have healthier eatting. Hubby and I went to Super Salad east today, I knew would be more better then fast food. We eat a lot of ground turkey here different ways. But that virtual chocolate cake and ice cream wow great. Just in real life can’t have it.
Hello Ladywolf you remember to think positive. Found a way to do exact. College books on line. I knew my daughter done this. I emailed bookstore for a list gave them what I need. If everything works since what I’m taking been around for long time someone who no longer needs these text with everything I need should sell. When I’m done I plan to sell. May not get the price back but that’s fine.
By the way I know you already knew this and I’d already been leaning that way with used books.

Hi Quaby!
Chocolate!kab2rb over 14 years ago
Where we used to live further west power failers where comon and frustrating to have to set everything.
Quaby I add more to your ice creat treat so we all can have a great time. Windy here. Rain didn’t last long and went fast. But left behind cooler temps.
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
It is rather interesting to see what happens when we have a power failure, considering everyone has a laptop or tablet computer. But even though they can run on batteries, the router doesn’t, so no internet. I ended up reading some old jokes by flashlight, then the boys played chess by light from a couple of kerosene lanterns.
kab2rb over 14 years ago
I don’t have a lap top have to save money for this. When our power went off just sat, hubby though went outside to pull weeds. Rmom I do agree with you a pain to reset everything.
kab2rb over 14 years ago
Quaby I don’t remember where part of state you live at. By now you know which part where in. I forgot to say ya made me very happy with all chocolate desert. I’m leaving for awhile news is on and I might go outside and soak it up.
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago

Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Quaby - I enjoyed my nap this afternoon, too. Just hope I won’t have a hard time falling asleep tonight.

Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago

Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Hope&Joy - I’m hoping it will stay cooler, even after it dries out a bit.

Hi Doctor Toon!

Hi Everyone :-)
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Quabaculta over 14 years ago
I didn’t worry much about Y2K, but I did take out $200 just in case the populace went nutso for a day or two. Nothing happened. I do like the Family Guy where they have Y2K and they come out and start dissing Peter because nothing happened, then planes fall out of the sky, there are nuclear explosions, etc etc. That’s the one where Stewie turns into an octopus.

Hi, Rmom.
How are you, dear lady?
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Terry - I’m doing pretty good. Having a very relaxing day, now that I got hubby to the airport. It sure is nice now that my sons are older, they can actually be quiet, and I’m not too worried about what they’re up to now. How are you?
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
Rmom, we are grilling burgers and dogs tonight. With that we’ll have homemade fries and corn on the cob. My favorite burger is mushroom and swiss cheese!

Sorry to miss you, Doctor Toon, but I was pulling for one of those exceptions. I do know you usually put up feline avatars.
What about this test avatar (left)? It has coffee, a cat, and toons. Aside from the mouse, what more could you ask for?
(gratuitous snerk)Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Have fun, Doc! Terry - Sounds like a great spread! I’ll skip the mushrooms, and I can only have virtual corn on the cob now. Homemade french fries are the best, I don’t think any other kind are worth eating. I think I’m going to settle down & read “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer”, so good night!

I figure you already knew this and I’m not a last minute type.
kab2rb over 14 years ago
I found out to relax to get ready for sleep no comics but reading a book. Soon I hope to start getting prepared for class ahead of time so to be prepared.

Rmom I saw that news article and hope there where A/c going for that poor guy. There was also on news about an unfortunate bear who head got stuck in a jar for 3 to 4 days no food or water. Don’t know how it became unstuck wouldn’t want to be around a hungry bear who should be greatfull to be free. I hope you read this.
kab2rb over 14 years ago
Lonewolf you made me sorta of hungry, no offense though I have to have healthier eatting. Hubby and I went to Super Salad east today, I knew would be more better then fast food. We eat a lot of ground turkey here different ways. But that virtual chocolate cake and ice cream wow great. Just in real life can’t have it.

Hi Kab!
kab2rb over 14 years ago
Hello Ladywolf you remember to think positive. Found a way to do exact. College books on line. I knew my daughter done this. I emailed bookstore for a list gave them what I need. If everything works since what I’m taking been around for long time someone who no longer needs these text with everything I need should sell. When I’m done I plan to sell. May not get the price back but that’s fine. By the way I know you already knew this and I’d already been leaning that way with used books.
