GROG, I need a real He Man breakfast. I’ll take two of everything (top that *BARGROVE.) I’ve been left all alone for the weekend without the tender love and attention of SHE WHO MUST BE OBEYED. As Garfield would say, “We’re bachelors, right?” Been living on frozen bean burritos and powdered lemonade in my boxers watching the John Wayne marathon. Got to remember to put the lid down before she gets home.

Morning TRIBE! How long does it take for frozen bean burritos to stop working their manly magic? She’s due at 5 so I should stop by what,3? Do emergency maid services work on Sunday?

♠Lonewolf♠ - Sounds like a real pain. Reminds me of a car (I think in the late ’70s) that was made forgeting the clearance needed for the spark plugs. In order to change the plugs the engine also needed to be raised! That was when plugs needed changed every few thousand miles I think.

Yes, Sojo, you are correct. There have been s few where the engine has required raising to change the plugs.

♠Lonewolf♠ - In the 80’s a friend at work bought a new pick-up, looked nice as there wasn’t the normal trim on it. He got a cracked windshield. In order to replace it the roof of the truck had to be cut off, welded back on and then painted. $1,500.00 back then! Yea engineers!

Kab - I think a couple of hours. Our bedroom is the top level, so it can get pretty hot up there. It took me a while to figure out what was wrong with the thermostat - I had to put my reading glasses on to tell it said “AM”, so I’m guessing that’s why he made the mistake - he probably didn’t put his on.

Kab - Both my hubby & I were at least 40 before we had to start using reading glasses. Quaby - This one is a pain, because not only do I have to set the time, I have to set the day of the week each time we have a power failure. If I don’t, it goes to their default setting which is about 4 degrees colder than the coolest we want. And of course, it only has + and - keys to use for setting. I try to have battery-powered (or battery backup) clocks as much as possible, because it isn’t uncommon to have power outages here.

It is rather interesting to see what happens when we have a power failure, considering everyone has a laptop or tablet computer. But even though they can run on batteries, the router doesn’t, so no internet. I ended up reading some old jokes by flashlight, then the boys played chess by light from a couple of kerosene lanterns.

I’m just glad it didn’t last real long, and wasn’t in winter. It is a pain to have to throw away food, and carry in firewood. We’ve had a couple times (ice storms) where the power’s been out for days. But at least the warmer weather outages are usually shorter than that, but less predictable for advance preparation, too.

Kab RL intruded for a bit. Dessert will not keep you awake. Add what you want, but I can’t guarantee it being hypo-allergenic, fat free and calorie free. And I’ve never said where I live, just the ‘armpit of the universe’. I’m cautious online, though I did spill the beans about 9 months ago about gender, etc, so I fessed up with some facts like I’m female, (now) 56, have a 27 year old son and my hubby is unemployed.

Rain didn’t last long here either.

Considering I crashed after such a lovely meal this afternoon I’m behind in my kitchen cleaning. It was a lovely nap, though, I really can’t wait until I can get back into bed and try to recapture that nice, deep sleep.

Doctor Toon,. something ain’t right here. I have a Very Strong Coffee Avatar and you don’t. I know that you’re staff for several cats (several, right?), but really shouldn’t you strive to maintain Some Little Part of Your Reputation? :)

I put the link to the original image in the thread some few days back. I can make arrangements to create a link to this specific button (unless you just want to download it from my profile) if you prefer.

Kab - Did you see this news? It is amazing he’s still alive, going 4 days without water or food, etc., especially in this heat.

Good evening KAB, Rmom, Quaby and to anyone else peeking in or stopping by.

You Witchita area people have had a truly pleasant day in the 70’s according to our KC weather person. We have enjoyed low 80’s and low humidity. Wonderful change, huh! Only had 1/2 inch rain from storm 2 nights ago. No storms since. When I went out to leave some food for our stray cat, it was hard to realize I had stepped outside the temp felt so good.

The longest we were without power was 18 hours in a winter ice storm several years ago. I’m keeping my fingers crossed. Bye for now.

The longest we were out of power was in ‘67 (?) when Bulula trashed the Valley in Texas. I was in Brownsville, we lived on a recacha (sp) and the water came up to the last step up. We were out of power about 2 weeks. Last power outage longer than a few hours was Floyd in ‘99, just a shade over 24.

    Back to the kitchen

Hi, Wolfie! - You’re making me hungry! I didn’t really have lunch, just a light snack. Now I need to figure out something for supper. Quaby - I think about 3 days has been our maximum. However, my mom was in Wichita during that same ice storm, and it was well over a week before her power was back on. I’m glad we installed a wood stove for Y2K. Didn’t need it for that, but it has come in handy for ice storms.

I didn’t worry much about Y2K, but I did take out $200 just in case the populace went nutso for a day or two. Nothing happened. I do like the Family Guy where they have Y2K and they come out and start dissing Peter because nothing happened, then planes fall out of the sky, there are nuclear explosions, etc etc. That’s the one where Stewie turns into an octopus.

Terry - I’m doing pretty good. Having a very relaxing day, now that I got hubby to the airport. It sure is nice now that my sons are older, they can actually be quiet, and I’m not too worried about what they’re up to now. How are you?

Rmom, we are grilling burgers and dogs tonight. With that we’ll have homemade fries and corn on the cob. My favorite burger is mushroom and swiss cheese!

Sorry to miss you, Doctor Toon, but I was pulling for one of those exceptions. I do know you usually put up feline avatars.

What about this test avatar (left)? It has coffee, a cat, and toons. Aside from the mouse, what more could you ask for?

Have fun, Doc! Terry - Sounds like a great spread! I’ll skip the mushrooms, and I can only have virtual corn on the cob now. Homemade french fries are the best, I don’t think any other kind are worth eating. I think I’m going to settle down & read “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer”, so good night!

Good evening who is left. Ladywolf I had an idea but been going for ever and you probably knew as well. How I can save major money on text books. I’m gave the bookstore a list of books I need in return I asked for a list of author’s name, subject, and edition. Why spend out a lot of money on subject I’m taking when I can get for far less. Now that is positive thinking since this will be done on line. Will have to pay class cost though. I figure you already knew this and I’m not a last minute type.

Rmom I saw that news article and hope there where A/c going for that poor guy. There was also on news about an unfortunate bear who head got stuck in a jar for 3 to 4 days no food or water. Don’t know how it became unstuck wouldn’t want to be around a hungry bear who should be greatfull to be free. I hope you read this.

Lonewolf you made me sorta of hungry, no offense though I have to have healthier eatting. Hubby and I went to Super Salad east today, I knew would be more better then fast food. We eat a lot of ground turkey here different ways. But that virtual chocolate cake and ice cream wow great. Just in real life can’t have it.

Hello Ladywolf you remember to think positive. Found a way to do exact. College books on line. I knew my daughter done this. I emailed bookstore for a list gave them what I need. If everything works since what I’m taking been around for long time someone who no longer needs these text with everything I need should sell. When I’m done I plan to sell. May not get the price back but that’s fine. By the way I know you already knew this and I’d already been leaning that way with used books.
