Pie is perfectly acceptable for breakfast. It’s a pastry, many have fruit, add some dairy with the ice cream… perfect breakfast!

I have pie for breakfast sometimes. It’s pizza, but it’s pie, yes? And Speedway has a breakfast pizza that’s not bad, not great, but not bad. ‘Specially when it’s fresh out of the oven at 3:30 when I’m going to work.

It’s supposedly the hottest here too–but that’s still only 83 °F. I’m still feeling sorry for the Angelenos at 113 yestre, 102 today–cooler, but still pretty mendasock warm.

Ahem. Pie for breakfast is an old respected New England custom. Of course they are not always fruit pies. Throwing a cover of Bisquick over a stew is pie. And I’m sure none of you is old enough to remember pre-microwave days when cold pizza pie was a Sunday morning college staple.

Lewreader - I remember them well!

And, for the Germans among us, there was always Cottage Cheese pie.

I see how it is…. and no Bisquik. Yucky!

DOC: Speaking as one who has worked the evening shift for a few decades, I suggest you maintain your odd hours during vacation rather than have to “adjust back”.

LEW: My mother was a big Bisquick fan. She often made a wonderful Chicken Pot Pie with a Bisquick crust (top and bottom crust) but I never ate it for breakfast. This too will change! And even though I never actually went to college, I do remember cold Pepe’s pizza for breakfast.

@Frankr, one problem with maintaining odd hours during vacation is that it’s hard to catch some rays at night…

Lewreader, neither cold, nor hot pizza were staples back in my University days. Of course, for the most part, I worked during the day and went to school at night. The fast food restaraunt accross the street from the U served up decorated cardboard. The place that served up pizza slabs close to the office was almost as bad.

I think my staples during those years were burgers at Wendy’s and Harvey’s - of course served up my way and with no leftovers. Since those 2 placese were both close to the office and on the way to the U, I’d end up going to one of those places more often than not. If I wanted onion rings with my burger, I went to Harvey’s; if I wanted fries, I went to Wendy’s

The only pie I really like, is French Canadian meat pie - but I wouldn’t eat it for breakfast. But it’s great comfort food on those cold winter nights.

When I was working on the India food it seemed better for a Sunday brunch or a supper. Didn’t seem too good for breakfast I have to admit. :-)

Sojo, I am on a high after last night’s football game. The Bears had to take advantage of some Packer mistakes but they did it. And they are the only unbeaten team in the National Conference! WooHoo!

I’ll do the menu tonight, no problem.

I first had India food when in LA. Have enjoyed it when I can find it. Have made some myself but keep getting different statements of what to use for “gee”.

You don’t have to include standard stiff if you don’t want to. Though there might be a lynch mob if there is no coffee.

I just wish he would have retired this year. I believe he has gone one year too many. He’s throwing Interceptions once again. Not good. He’s looking his age so far.

I agree that he should of retired. That’s hard to do though when it’s such a big part of your life. I remember wheh Vince L. coached the Packers and now that the town owns them they won’t be moving around like some teams as they are bought and sold. That and Favre is why I like them.

I don’t know that much about football to know which teams I want to win. I do like to choose a team I want to win when watching a game and when the Bears are playing I usually choose them. Don’t ask me why though.

The Bears team has so much history and they are one of the oldest teams in the league. The Cardinals are the oldest followed by the Bears, Packers and Giants.

That’s good to know. I remember seeing the first Super Bowl. I also choose the Giants third and then the Steelers. Don’t ask me why. Because they are close I like to go with the Chiefs and Broncos but they seem to lose to often.
