That’s a four letter word. Even though Dry seldom visits here anymore [miss her and all the others] I will be glad to to take over her role as snow-hater. I’ve had enough of it even though winter has not even officially started yet.
hi DocT & Serena
i was at my boss’ open house last night and when we left it was snowing (just a light dusting that needed to be brushed off the cars). it was a 20 minute drive home, and by the time i was half way there was no evidence of any snowfall anywhere. and this was the first snow accumulation i’ve seen this season.
Wheeling onto the buffet line, courtesy of the crew of the SSBN Erehwon Spagetti!!
There are several sauces, all tomato based: meatball, ground beef and meat-free. Garlic toast and parmesan cheese is also available. There is some salad for starters, and assorted italian ices for desert. Enjoy.
Lonewolf retire to the Hill Country north and east of Austin. The panhandle is also good for snow. That’s why I want to retire to the Hill Country, admittedly the more southern portion so the snow is not horrendous.
Grog - - Today , I have Da Bears game early with the Raiders/Chargers and Cowboys/Colts for the late games. And the Steelers/Ravens game tonight should be a good game.
♠Lonewolf♠ There are some parts of Texas that do get some snow - just not as much as up north. Ice & freezing rain storms are more likely here. Much scarier.
happy snoozing DocT
hi Quaby and thanks for the pasghetti and meat bulbs, and especially the garlic bread. just in time for my lunch.
our forecast is for some flurries today, but it was sunny when i got up a couple of hours ago. as close to Toronto as i live, we don’t get that much snow, but less than an hour away is a “snow belt” area and lots of ski hills. i was watching news on friday and saw that Buffalo, NY had so much snow the interstate was closed while we hadn’t had anything.
i’m going to go out by the lake later to finish off my last roll of film - and i’m hoping i might get some snow flake effects while i’m doing it. back to the tour…
♠Lonewolf♠. I get the Jags/Titans and the Redskins/Giants early and Cowboys/Colts late.
Picking games to watch today is tough. I’ll rabit ear the Skins & Cowboys games and switch between da Bears game and the Chiefs game I think. Late I’ll start with the Raiders game but could switch if things go wrong to the Falcons game.
my football ended last week with my Grey Cup party. unfortunately, my second favourite team (Saskatchewan Roughriders) lost for the 2nd year in a row to the Alouettes - the team that beat my beloved AAAARRGOOOOOOOOS the week before. oh well. maybe next year we’ll get ourselves a quarterback who can actually throw the ball on a Canadian sized field.
Grog, I know the Texas weather fairly well, but if I have my choice, I will reside around the Austin area. I saw flurries on a few occasions, but it’s not the same. Still, Texas will be my retirement location.
Lonewolf, Grog My husband’s family is from the Austin Area. It is very beautiful. I remember on the Farm Road they lived off of there was an extremely steep dip, We would leave our son with his folks for the evening and we would go into town. We would hit that dip and it was like we were flying. Then, one year, we went that way and found the dip had been ‘smoothed’ out, and no more flying. Bummer.
Spent all my life in So. Cal., and am happy to retire in snow country. Only thing…..we are on the lee side of the Rockies, so our snow is minimal. LOVE IT!!!!
♠Lonewolf♠, it looks like the Lions are giving the Bears all they call handle. Looks like the Pack will take care of the 9ers. (Did I tell you how much I hate the Packers throwbacksthey are wearing?) At least KC’s up by 7. The Saints are leading too. It looks like it’s already over in New York.
Lines up football, looks at the cheering crowd, concentrates on the target, Kicks the football…….It’s got the distance! It’s it’s… GOOD! A perfect kick right through the ring of fire.
Naps are nice. The sun is out again it is confuzzling. I am pretty sure I am supposed to be hibernating. At the very least sleepping until 3pm and in bed by 7pm. Yes, that sounds right.
We actually had a dusting of the white stuff last night. Let the dog out at 9 and got a surprise. Was even more surpised to see it on the grass this morning. Not nearly cold enough to stick to the roads, but some winters we don’t even get that much.
Grog, I guess ol’ Favre might have his reason to retire now. I wonder what’s going to happen with the investigation once his streak is over. I think they will push it harder then. Since he admitted sending text messages while being married he has in my opinion violated the conduct policy of the NFL. One of the best players ever, but his personal life changed my opinion of him as with Tiger Woods. Sad.
♠Lonewolf♠ - My day has been good so far. After KC game did some studing and learning more about phone. Still having laptop shutdown problems sometimes. May change my sleeping hours to sleep earlier and get up earlier. Hope your getting rested up!

bmonk yesterday there was a talk about earmuffs. I had a pair with a 4 inch width over my head and muffs attached. The whole bit had sort of a spring that held the muffs snuggly in place and gave added warmth…mine were a faux white fur.
Good evening, everyone. Sorry if I haven’t been checking in lately. Just a reminder that my birthday is one week from tomorrow. Hopefully I’ll be there to have you all wish me a happy 51st. The reason why I haven’t been on line is I’m working additional hours to get another computer for my birthday/Christmas present. Quite the entertaining day in football today. The Cowboys don’t make it look easy but they got the job done. The Raiders were actually impressive. And in the batte of teams I don’t like, Atlanta came out on top unfortunately. The rematch with the Saints is looming large as we enter the final stretch of the regular season. While it’s *not * beginning to look a lot like Christmas, almost all the remaining games will have a playoff atmosphere.
♠Lonewolf♠, As far as Favre goes, that’s not exactly how I’d want to put the exclamation point on the end of my career if I were him.
HopeandJoy, I bought that movie last Christmas (after seeing it on TCM). I will be watching it again this year of course. This year I have on order Remember the Night and It Happened On Fifth Avenue, which I saw again on TCM on Friday.
Hello again. Had a sorta emergency crop up with some friends trying to avoid eviction. I did what I could, but they should have called sooner. Oh well, you make what you can with the lemons given.
Anyway, as a respite from football currently watching Ice Road Truckers in India. Stuck in traffic, bad accident ahead, etc etc. Then it’s to Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
Meanwhile, I still have spaghetti sauce to put into containers for the freezer, tapioca to make and kitchen to clean. SIgh no rest for the weary.
I did have some disappointment however and almost caused a scene. I went to Pizza Hut and ordered a pizza. When I received it, I took a look at it and it was completely burnt. I was mad and demanded to speak to the manager. It was a bunch of Blah, Blah, Blah! I refused to back down and finally they gave me a good pizza that was not burnt. I don’t pay money just to eat burnt food, and neither should anybody.

Notre Dame plays Miami New Year’s Eve afternoon. That matchup brings back memories - good and bad. I’m glad I have that day off. Game time is 1PM.

I can’t sleep with this game on. It’s too good and too close for comfort right now.
