Coming Soon đ At the beginning of April, youâll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
As I said yesterdayâŠ. âSTEEL YOURSELVES!!!â This goes on for several days. If anyone has some stray jokes or comic strips laying around, dig âem out and post âemâŠ..or thereâll be several of us crying in our coffee all week!
I gave a lot of thought to your second panel of âRetired and Lovinâ itâ, but I never could have come up with anything half as funny as you did! That was perfection!!! Very well done!
(just a thought: if I wanted to sit here and start grieving the loss of all of the dogs I ever had, I really donât need a comic strip for that. Iâd just have to allow my mind to think about them and how much I miss them all. Tears follow within seconds. To me, comics are a vehicle to allow me to âforgetâ, however briefly, the sad losses in life, and inject some lightheartedness into the day. just sayinââŠ..)
Thanks Stel, but did you mean the first or second version?your comment about lost doggies reminded me of that 1998 Robin Williams movie âWhat dreams May Comeâ In it, Williams is in the afterlife and he happens across his dalmatian who was put too sleep at the beginning of the film because age issues . the doggie was not old and and slow gray and in pain and crippled but was bouncing ,frivolous and young again.it made the idea of an afterlife appealing, being reunited with a long lost friend (like the Rainbow Ridge story)But , there was only the one dog, and it got me thinking, what if you only get one pet to be reunited with? and if it was your own choice, which one would you pick? If youâre as old as I am, then you would be faced with a hard choice.
btw, wow! the ears on that basset (assuming nobody photoshopped it) are THE largest in relation to the head I have ever seen. this little guy would have serious stumbling issues just going from point A to point B.
I remember you mentioning that⊠on Dogs of C-Kennel perhaps? Iâm so sorry for your loss. Most of us here know exactly how sad and painful it is. And, everyone has their own way to deal with it.
I always opt to adopt a new little one fairly soon after the loss of one of my dear, beloved dogsâŠ. not to replace the one thatâs gone, but to help me grieve while maintaining some sanity. I find the house way too quiet without the âpitter-patterâ of paws. And, I know I can provide a good and loving home to an orphaned pup (no matter how old, theyâre all a âpupâ to me!) that needs one.
Thatâs how I deal with it, but I know everyone needs to go at their own individual pace. I hope that as time goes on, youâll figure out whatâs best for youâŠand youâll always have the sweet memories of VenusâŠ.
Unseasonably warm here this weekend, but I am loving it. Our bathroom remodel has rendered the room into an empty shell with drywall dust leaving my eyes bloodshot and itchy.
at this point, Iâm shutting up! Itâs a nice day and frankly, I donât want to be crying all day long! So, instead, Iâm going to plant some flowers, go swimming with Max and then, weâll have a cook-out! There are no dark clouds⊠anywhere in my neck of the woodsâŠliterally or otherwise!
Max, on his own private float in his pool that he allows us to useâŠ.and, previously to living with us, he was on âdeath rowâ in Tennessee at only 4 months old. I miss my StelBel and the rest of the crew now passed away, but Iâm glad we were able to give a home to this great little guy. And, he hears all about his âaunts and unclesâ that were here before him.
Good morning kids. As I have lived a different type of life, Iâd rather choose between relatives in the afterlife, than my dearly departed pets.To lighten the load a little, I do have a sweet and some what humorous story. Back in the winter, our school held a mother/son carnival. You know how you sit there and think pleeease donât pick his name and they do? Well little man won a beta fish, in a small bowl, in a leaking plastic bag. Got the boy and fish home, one handed, told the hubby just feed it once a day and Iâll deal with it when I come back home. (I was leaving for a girls weekend) I get back that Sunday to the fish, now dead, and its bowl in the Britta pitcher. They thought it needed more room to swim. Poor little guy, they didnât know any better. I hid the pitcher and planned on telling him fishy didnt make it. When they got home little man tells meâŠ.mom I donât think my fish likes me. I asked why and he said because he wonât swim around and heâs not interested in me at all. He was heart broken and in turn broke my heart. I told him the fish was just tired after his big weekend and we should let him rest. So 1 day and $200 later, (a mom has gotta do what sheâs gotta do) we are now the proud parents of Sy the red beta fish. Long may he swim!
stel olâ Bel, our miscommunication issues continue. when I asked if you like which version, I meant which âfinishedâ version. I hate to tamper with âperfectionâ (ha, hardly perfect) but I dumped the âbartenderâ version and replaced it with Cleo ,in his usual dry humored way, something different that to me, was funnier.check it outâ towards the end of yesterdayâs comments
Actually our two cats (ashes) are in two cats (stone) in the back yard uner a tree, watching the birdies. My beloved Tina who died on Christmas Eve is (again ashes) in a Christmas Ornament. Not at all weird, we say hello once a year and she gets to enjoy the Tree from across the Rainbow bridge. Best Doxie in the world! I actually liked this panel, I got to think about my three best friends again!
Stel and Number Six I went to yesterdayâs Andy to read the comments. Somehow, I JUST KNEW who you were talking about. SNERK! She seriously needs to get a life.
@Stel, while true that cats and dogs ordinarily have short lifespans, parrots do not. Cuddles died because I did not push the local vets here to provide me with a medicine she had in IL that kept her from feeling hormonal so that she wouldnât keep laying eggs. She was laying so many eggs (using the minerals from her bones) that they were weak and died of a prolapse.
She died at 24 and could have lived well into 50s (the day before, she was full of life and bringing me toys to toss for her. She was dying before sunrise when I got up, but was waiting on the tile floor under a bench in the kitchen. She could barely make a sound and I could see what had happened, thinking about getting her to vet (how to carry in that condition etc) but later (on the net) saw there was nothing to be done.
She lived a full hour in my arms as I stood at the kitchen counter holding her and kissing that little beak. She breathed her last little gasps after a while and her body was limp â then I held her as I thought of what way to preserve her remains. Not any box or cremation as she was still so lovely in death. My Holiday card that year honored her as an angel hovering over my house. and I could not speak of her for weeks and months after that without tears, as they form in my eyes even now (5 years later) She died on June 20 and I adopted Fitzroy in October; she was my companion over 20 years, he was a pet for 4 years and his ashes reside in a box. The drawing as you pointed out my style is crude as Irfanview lacks some f the tools of $ programs. I used that as my card 2008 and an actual photo taken by my daughter in 2009.
He will be banned, StelBel. perhaps not today, but if he keeps this up tomorrow, he wonât stand a chance of lasting. Itâs very rare that moderators will do anything on weekends, unless the flagging occurs after the turnover.
Looks like Iââve missed some excitement here. Iâve been run off my feet lately, so I dropped in to say good night.Nighthawks, I love your strip!StelBel, thanks for the great doggy pics. They cheered me up after reading todayâs strip. Just when I was again crying about my Mua. But this is true to life and so itâs okay I guess.
Happy the profile page is pretty much what the SOB said in most of the comments and then some! Made threats against posters if they didnât join itâs cause, etc.
What makes me mad is I praised the moderators in my email to them but maybe they will stop and think DUH They owe THE DECENT FOLKS ON THIS SITE AN APOLOGY FOR DROPPING THE BALL ON THIS ONE!
And back in 2008 they sent me an email telling me I would be banned forever from gocomics if I didnât and I QUOTE, EXACT WORDS, I KEPT THE EMAIL, "IF I Didnât CEASE AND DESIST from using the words He!! and D@mn (which I did in SOME posts. I admit) and lose my membership fee. And we come to this, AND THEY ARE NOWHERE TO BE FOUND! GEEZ! WELL D@MN IT ALL TO HE!!!
JP Steve I know to click on the avatar, but since IT removed ItâS comments, I canât, and what is the blue name? I am going to say goodnight, but if you leave me a message, I will check tmr Good night, Buddy!
x-Tech, maybe you should work for gocomics. You seem to know more than they do. At least you tried, and like Happy said it will get whatâs coming to it, we hope! Sounds like from what you said, this Troll has been around before. Only getting nastier and more hateful.
Three long hard (good) days in a row.I have one client tomorrow, and I am tired and sore.Good night people and pets.Keep calm, and stay cool. And donât get overheated.
