@Corey Saw the hub bub on the August 28 strip! PLEASE DON’T END BARKEATER LAKE! END THE OTHER TWO IF YOU HAVE TOO, PLEASE! I do like Green With Envy, though.* But hey, the reruns would be great! I love this strip! And good luck to you!*
Don’t ask me to choose, it would be like asking me which beer in the six pack to pour down the drain. I rather see Barkeater go into reruns with the hope you’ll pick it back up again in a couple months.
Put me down with the group that thinks this is the best of your 4 strips. If you need to do a month of re-runs for a break that’s fine with me; if the strip is only 3 or 4 days a week that’s fine too. I hope you don’t end it though - unless you feel your creative well is dry for this strip; I suppose it’s better to end while the strip is still good (e.g. Calvin & Hobbes) rather than become like some of the old comics that just repeat the same jokes over and over and over.
Also, a suggestion on how you might make some money:
One of the other comics I read on the web sells the original prints of each strip.
This might be something you could do. Only one person could get a given original print. This would keep your inventory low and give your readers a chance at a quality print of a favorite strip.
Didn’t see any comments about ending this strip. But I really really hope it doesn’t happen. It’s a great strip. Please oh please don’t end this strip. I love it
Corey - Thanks for the new strip. Please, please, please, please don’t end Barkeater Lake. Don’t let this be a tease to the entire town being neuralized because BAnks is an alien. (How else do you explain a dog who is a pilot? Race car driver maybe - easier to stick his head out the window)
Actually DD, Corey has 4 strips, BL, Elderberries, Greene and Toby ! Quite a load but I still like this one the best ! So Corey if you’re listening, PLEASE keep up all the Great Work !!!!
Or… how about:
C) Update a full 5-day week every other week?
(kinda like it has been, but on purpose?)
D) Alternate BL & Green days? BL-MWF, Green-TRS?
(The Foglios did this schedule for GG & BG)
E) Save the time of coloring by going B&W?
or find someone willing to volunteer to do the coloring?
BL is unique, with a great premise and (I think) still has plenty of depth to mine in terms of content. It will be missed if it has to go.
Corey - While I like all your comics, “Barkeater Lake is my favorite as it is with so many others. If taking a month off to get caught up works - great. Take two months, if that will save this strip. Regardless, thanks for the pleasure you have already brought. Best of luck to you and your wife in New York.
Gee, I missed the option vote also. I too would prefer to see Barkeater Lake continue, under whatever conditions are needed. Reruns, long delays not out of consideration.
I like paciii’s observations (and suggested options).
Dik Browne has two strips (Hi & Lois, Hagar The Horrible)
Dik Browne has assistants (in fact, he started in cartooning as an assistant/collaborator with his brother-and-law, Mort Walker [Lois, BTW, is Beetle Bailey’s sister.])
@Corey, please count me among those who enjoy Barkeater Lake and would hate to see it end.
Four strips is a lot. Only you can tell what the right course of action will be, but I’d rather see this one continue, even if on a less-frequent schedule, if it can be done. Of your four strips, this is always the one I come back to.
Pandolph, have you ever tried selling the originals for any day? I know a couple of web cartoonists who do and apparently they sell rather well. There is a button under the daily toon which says “Own Today’s Art”. You press it and it takes you to where you can purchase the art and pay w/ Paypal. First come, first served. After it is bought, the button changes to “”Today’s original Purchased”.
If they are reasonable, why not sell original, autographed strip art day by day?
I know the recent Delores shagging marathon would sell.
Relatively new fan here. I would be delighted with the opportunity to watch the movie from the beginning and maybe figure out what the heck is going on around here. You could do a new strip once a week to keep the oldfen coming back.

@cpandolph
Love all your strips! In reference to the 8/28 comments, maybe you could have guest artist. I’m sure some of your readers would be interested…
Also, for selling merchandise, have you looked into sites like Zazzle? You upload the designs and they take care of the rest.
Good luck.

@cpandolph:
Dik Browne has two strips (Hi & Lois, Hagar The Horrible)
Hart has two strips (B.C., Wizard Of Id)
Mart Tatulli has two strips (Heart Of The City, Lio)
Bill Holbrook has three (On The Fasttrack, Kevin & Kell, Safe Havens)
Brian Basset has two strips (Adam@Home, Red & Rover)
What I’m saying is you, Pandolph, can do two strips also.

B) OK, that’s better than A…

COREY, please don’t end Barkeater Lake! It is so enjoyable and you do such a wonderful job with it. I’ve enjoyed it on a daily basis when it appears.

Johnny Hart is still dead.
And he has assistants, anyway.
And had them when he was alive, for that matter.

Which of YOUR three strips (BL, TRS or GWE) pays you back the most in merchandise, etc?
I’d bet it’s BL.
Go with what pays the most over the long run.
