Man: And now, the student talent show is proud to present...Dean! Dean: "Everything is lovely when you start to roam, the birds are singin, the day that you stray, but later, when you are further away, things won't seem so lovely when you're all alone; here's what you'll keep saying when you're far from home.... Dean:"Mummy, mummy, the sun shines east, the sun shines west, I know where the sun shine's best--mummy! My little mummy!

I suspect a lot of readers will not know this is the song “My Mammy”,made famous by Al Jolson in the 1927 movie “The Jazz Singer”, considered the first talking film.

Well what do you expect from a man who just won a “MAJOR AWARD”?===== and I don’t mean a fishnet stocking-black garter covered leg lamp either.

I’ve still got several 78 RPM records (ask your grandparents, kids)(great-grandparents?) of Al Jolson, including “Mammy”, “Sonny Boy”, Rainbow on my Shoulder”, etc. Got them when an old bar in Crockett, Ca. closed down, and the jukebox (ask them again, kids) actually played 78s, not 45s. Big collection of 45s and 33s also, along with several phonographs. I’ve tried converting some to digital, but it’s just not the same. That was a different world altogether, and we’ve left it far behind.

I wonder if you realize that you have a small fortune in records there, especially if they are in good condition.
