I still think that Hobbes has the kitchen and house on his side, especially since Calvin mentions scenic splendor on his side and of course Calvinâs house would be decay and filth, and that is on Hobbeâs side.
Obviously Calvin isnât a match for Hobbes. He surely forgot Hobbes knows everything about higher mathematics: calculus, imaginary numbers, etc. etcâŠâŠ..
I had an imaginary friend, âspeedy,â when I was just a tyke. I remember losing arguments to him! Mom always liked him better, too! This is weird, huh?
doctertoon: interesting way of putting it. This sort of thing really makes me think about if everything around me actually exists, or if its all just someones dream. When the dreamer wakes up, will we poof out of existence?
My daughter also has imaginary friends. She gets upset and cries at things they do. Her older brother has to remind her that she made her friends up and can make them do whatever she wants them to.
Like Calvin, I was an only child. I had two imaginary friends, my two teddy bears. I still have them, somewhere. I still can remember our adventures and how real those bears were as they talked and played with me. Special memories.

Gee, at least my sisters and brothers taunted me with mom liking them better than me â not my imaginary friends! ;-)

Actually, thatâs not always quite true. Many authors have the experience of their characters doing their own thing â once you set their character, thatâs what they have to do to be consistent. One that comes to mind: on MASH, the writers wanted Klinger to be asleep on guard duty. Klinger refused. He said that his character (at that point) was cross-dressing to get out of the army, but otherwise he was a model soldier, and would never be asleep on duty. The writers agreed, and put another (generic) guard on duty to sleep.
my mate and I are in our 50âs and 60âs, but yaâ know, some things just donât change. We still go at it like this. Whatever that says about us is just what it is, I guess.

Hobbes not only has a high intelligence quotient (180, more or less), but he also is a world champion in weightliftingâŠâŠ

If you want to come out the winner, Calvin youâd best find another playmate. Hobbes always wins!

Calvin has the scenic splendour of flora on his side. But what about the fauna ? Thatâs Hobbes himself.

I love how you can pretty much read any C&H comic without knowing what was printed for the last week or so, and still find it funny :D

It is amazing how strong a stuffed animal can be, at least in the eyes (and imagination) of a boy.
