Not packing food for Calvin has changed the expected weight of the wagon and thereby thrown off Calvinâs calculation regarding escape velocity. They may well crase.
I predicted yesterday there would be a problem with having enough food on the wagon heading for Mars. That was easyâwith Calvin, itâs all about foodâŠ.
Iâd say their ramp was too short to lift them to escape velocity. Should they survive the crash, their food problem will be solved when Mom serves lunch. Hopefully nothing with Tuna in it.
Two days ago I warned of launch without lunch. Luckily it was pointed out to me they will have Mars and Milky Way bars upon their touchdown, assuming that touchdown is on Mars.

This strip is in reruns and is not following our current calendar. Halloween may show up here in time for Christmas. Calvin just recently went back to school in this current run.
Assuming Calvinâs hill is a generous 200 yds long and escape velocity on the Earthâs surface is about 7 miles/second, then Calvinâs wagon would need to cover the distance from panel one to panel four in less than two one thousandths of a second.
Iâve tried several times and I simply canât read that fast.
Well itâs here in upstate New York now, the Swine Flu! My granddaughter started puking during the night Tuesday and by Wednesday afternoon ended up in the emergency room hooked up to an IV with a 105 degree temperature. Her fever finally got down to 100 degrees on Thursday and by 11:00pm her fever broke. Sheâs going to the doctorâs for follow-up and weâll all know more later. I believe in the power of prayer so if everyone could take a minute today Iâd appreciate it! Thank you all!
As long as the trip isnât too long, keeping the tiger well fed is probably more important than keeping the human well fed. After all, in a pinch, the tiger can eat the boyâeven if he doesnât smell too good.

So close to Halloween, Calvin shouldâve brought along his momâs s-s-spider p-pie as provisions.
