Teachers in America are grossly underpaid, they create the future and we pay them average salaries, but then we turn around and give athletes millions, we need to pay teachers more, and before you argue that it would mean bad teachersin it for the money only, we could make the process of becoming a teacher more difficult.

One thing to is to educate teachers more and raise our school standards. We aren’t competent enough with other countries.

True. I do homeschool now and I learn more than I ever did. And don’t even get me started on the school libraries.

I also blame bad parenting skills. Parents who can’t, or won’t, take the time to start teaching their kids when young. Maybe if teachers actually earned more there would be better ones in schools.

Teachers aren’t really that under-paid. Part of the problem is of course, the parents, who should be helping their kids learn at an early age as well as actual parenting.

They expect the schools to be teaching their kids on how to productive members of society, which teachers just don’t have the time to do along with whatever subject matter is supposed to be taught.

Of course though, even counting inflation, governments are spending more money per student than before, yet the grades aren’t improving. The “No child left behind” act is idiotic, because if they cannot pass the course curriculum they shouldn’t advance to the next grade. Now if the government set up education to work how they do it in like Sweden or something where the money for a student is attached to them no matter the school they go to, and the performance has an effect, then teachers will work harder to get their students prepared for the future, since how well they do would affect any possible bonus or salary they’d be earning.

That is true, but in most large cities and counties rent is really expensive and there is a lot of supplies that the teachers buy themselves.

Oh, come on, teachers have it easy! Where else can you be held responsible for up to forty kids at a time, but given no real responsibility to discipline them? Where else can you be used as a punching bag for both the left and the right? And all for a salary that’s lower than that of the average garbage collector! Sign me up!
