Seems as if Warbucks started out as a right wing person who worked extra hard and saved his money. Perhaps, that’s how he got rich (?)
Would he have “made it” as a practitioner of socialist philosophy ?
Some think the best help for the needy is not by “giving” food, but by “teaching” men HOW to “fish” ! (?) Perhaps Warbucks should be doing some of that. Or does it off camera,
But do you think many would read the strip if it focused on civics ?
I think we can all agree that Annie is in a perpetual state of childhood, as are very many comics characters such as Calvin and Jason Fox. Others are in a frozen state at various points in life, from Jeremy in “Zits” to the “Pickles” family. All this is just fine, but I’d like to know what age Annie is supposed to be. She seems to be not quite to adolescence yet. A pre-teen? With the wisdom of a seventy-year-old, of course.
The question of the “chaperone” from pierreandnicole got me thinking about this.
Of course, Sandy is the chaperone.

Actually we support Heifer Project International, an organisation that gives a family a heifer (cow) with the promise to return the first calf born to it.
He is a philanthropist they did have Annie and Amelia on that relief mission a while back did you forget that. It would be boring to focus on that he does that stuff off screen. Those girls made their own choices Annie told them to earn a living not steal. Choices have consequences.
Warbucks is a self-made man, he started as factory worker while going to college at night. He worked his way up to foreman and so on. When he did exceptionally well due to his amazing management he gave his employees raises and reinvested in the company instead of keeping it for himself. Yes he should probably go to the proper authorities instead of fighting criminals, terrorists, foreign spies, and corrupt businessmen himself, but that is part of willing suspension of disbelief of fiction. That would be boring if he did not fight them. Also he has the necessary skills for such things so it isn’t like an untrained person took the law into his or her own hands.
My memory of the Beverly Hillbillies was that they were form Bugtussle, Tennessee, but the show may not have been consistent on that throughout its run.

punchydugan; If its Ovaltine he’s drinking I hope he’s got enough inner seals for his secret decoder pin.

scbaguru: Yeah, he would not want to miss all those great secret Ovaltine commercials. Just ask Ralphie
