It is truly sad how little many parents care about their kids’ education. Granted, I know that in many families both parents work. . . But when I was teaching, the only parents I ever saw at open houses or parent-teacher conferences were the parents of kids that were doing well. The parents I REALLY needed to talk to never showed up.
Unfortunately, perceptor3, that’s true, but it’s the teacher’s fault if the kids don’t learn. When I was teaching, the first week or so was devoted to teaching the kids things they should have already learned at home – basic things like their full name or how to put on their shoes or button a shirt. Some of my kids had never seen a book before they got to my class. Sad.
perceptor, I have the same problem getting to talk to parents I need to see.
When I was a student, if I got in trouble at school, I was in MORE trouble when I got home. Even if I was innocent, I did not have a “side”. What my teacher said was it. My parents never went to my teachers to fuss at them.

I don’t think you can put it all on the teacher, catlady. Do you hit 100 % on everything? A combined effort is needed.

i thought lobster and shellfood in general wasn’t kosher? Or did the Red Lobster offer non-traife menu to the Kleins?

Parents bribe their kids to get good marks, schools bribe parents to take an interest in their kids’ schooling… Something’s wrong here!
