Can some one tell me ….. We know politicians are crooks that only look after themselves and regularly go to bed with lobbyists for money so they can stay in office. So, why do we let them run our country and then get mad when they screw us and bring the country down? Does that not start ideas germinating in your mind? If not, you deserve to be screwed.
If people would get off their rears and vote in the primaries, then they would have a better chance of not sending someone back to Washington. being a Politician should not be a career choice and it’s our fault if we keep re-electing them. First time they are elected they have a dream, Second time it’s because they like the life and will work for whoever pays for their campaign.
Well no, CogentModality, my congressman is not corrupt and evil, but he is inept and has no grit. Therefore, I’ll not vote for him when he next runs for election. The problem then is, if not him, who? It’s a conundrum of the greatest proportions.
LOL, Lewreader…. MY mother always said “If he wasn’t guilty, the police wouldn’t have arrested him”. Needless to say, not once in her long life was she ever picked to sit on a jury.
AND campaign spending limits. Each candidate can spend $X on the campaign, regardless of the source. Go over it by 1 cent and you’re out. Show you can run a campaign on a budget before you promise to balance the government budget!

The root of the problem is that everyone’s congressman but “mine” is crooked, so I’m going to vote him or her back in.
The main problem is you only get to vote for the lessor of two evils or as I like to put it, the evil of two lessors.

I would rather benign neglect.

My mother said,” Those people wouldn’t be in Washington if they didn’t know what they were doing.” Don’t ruin a boy’s faith in his mother..

The best way to handle the problem is to put term limits into effect. But we all know that will never happen.

Excellent idea, jcc21, but that would have to be passed by Congress…and guess what?
