John Wayne never though he was a good actor and even made jokes about it in his movies. In one movie he went to a dentist for information and didn’t want the bad guys to know the doctor was talking to him so he was screaming in pain to let everyone know he was really getting a tooth pulled, then the dentist pulled a tooth for real and told him “I wouldn’t have to to it if you’d been a better actor.”
