I have become disgusted with Oliphant’s dismissive attitude of those who might believe God….I only signed up here to tell him so. His bias is making his cartoons both tasteless and demeaning to pentecostals…but we will continue to pray that he will be enlightened…someday.

Well, this is still technically a free country, so he is welcome to his opinion as you are to yours.

Well after all, the poor man has made large contributions to the RNC.

atgrudonski - I grew up in an area where there was pentecostals. Their attitudes towards what others believed weren’t very charitable. Have things changed?

The latest cartoon that depicts Sarah Palin talking in tongues just confirms the ignorance so many have concerning this perfectly biblical practice. I am one of millions of American Pentecostals and Charismatics who speak in tongues. Oliphant’s ignorant depiction makes me all the more convinced that liberals don’t get it. McCain Palin 08!

In answer to my question: they haven’t.

revhog8 and atgrudnoski: The “speaking in tongues” cartoon was partially a commentary on the fact that the republican ticket, and the American government in general under the Bush administration, has become hijacked by the special interests of a relatively small segment of social conservatives, most of whom are devout Christians of some variety.

Please remember that these cartoons are often hyperbole, and not to be taken literally.

The system evidently auto-bleeps, which is kind of impressive. Unfortunately, it managed to delete the Latin word I wanted to put between “magna” and “laude,” which led to the message that Roosevelt graduated from Harvard “magna bleeep laude.”

speaking about autobleeeping… did anyone tried to see what words are bleeeped and what doesn’t?

Editorial cartoons are to be considered as tongue in cheek humor, so the Pentecostals should uh. lighten up.

But in the case of this particular cartoon, it’s very accurate.

As for bleeping. Testing…testing… Does a bear bleep in the woods :)

Okay, this one is a bit of a miss. Not that I disagree with the message, but the man-with-a-sign is too obvious.
