Margueritemās reference is to the movie, āMarathon Manā in which the hero (Dustin Hoffman, I think) is tortured by the bad guy in a dentist chair.
Now that I think of it, I believe he used legitimate dentist tools (which are pretty effective torture instruments in themselves). For some reason, I was thinking of him using a regular power drill. I may be confusing that scene with one from some other movie where a āregularā drill was used.
