Joe Pyle: So have you learned your lesson about cheating? Danae: Enhanced studying. Joe Pyle: Cheating! Danae: Whatever. Yes I have ... Joe Pyle: OK ... just for the record, what did you learn? Danae: To get a note from a lawyer to justify what I'm doing. Joe Pyle: I was foolishly hoping for, "never doing it again"... Danae: Hey, you're the one who keeps telling me to act more adult.

It used to mean that by “acting adult” you took responsibility for your actions and owned up to your debts. Now with the culture of celebrity, it seems that the more childish one acts the more accolades are heaped upon them. This applies to politicians as well as those who revel in the celebrity status. We need not return to puritanism, but do need to teach that there are consequences for your actions. Life is not black and white, so our responses do need to be tempered with logic and justice.

Wndrwrthg’s on to something. I’m going to go on an alcohol and cocaine binge, beat up some hotel worker with my cell phone, drive my car into the side of a national monument, blame it on my parents spanking me, go into rehab, and cut a deal with Oprah or Geraldo or maybe Rachael Ray.
