Hi josh - taking one for the team, means the team benefits while you get hurt in some way.

In this case, being the designated scapegoat — usually it’s a selfless & personal decision, so did this guy volunteer for the promotion??

I see, like what happened to me a lot when my ex-pal Peter Pan and The Lost Boys often send on those ill-fated missions!. Oooooo!

Wouldn’t the VP of TOFTT be in charge of deciding who gets to take it? And if not, perhaps a bit of mission creep would put him in charge.

If he survives his first mission he can appoint a VICE-VICE president and send that next doak out.

Uh, Tink1300. Perhaps Peter knew what a jealous, treacherous murderous heart you had. You did try to kill Wendy at least once out of jealousy. Lets not forget you told Captain hook where to find the lost boys hideout, knowing full well what HE intended.

Our “take one for the team” guy was always given the manager (or VP) of “special projects”. It was always a sure sign that he was toast.

Wow! Where’d they find a painter who still letters on glass doors? Let’s take bets to see if he goes first or the VP.

Well, if they’re spending the money on having his door front lettered he should at least have a bit of a breather… at least until he works that amount off.

Well, this sign painter is painting the letters on the wrong side of the door …

Where did he go to school?

Well, I think it should be noted that the painter is doing exactly what he was paid to do because its a veiled reference to the political economic climate of the world today with the titled “signs of the times” logo.

Not necessarily; they could be planning to reuse the office for the next sacrificial VP.

I thought the origin of taking one for the team came from baseball, where a batter was asked to lean into the pitch in order to get hit by the pitch and get the walk to advance runners.

In general, it does mean to be hurt or put in an awkward situation for the betterment of the rest of the group. It also indicates a lack of faith in your abilities to get the job done by conventional means.

Wenthral, EVERYBODY in Neverland was out to slaughter Wendy, and rightly so. She didn’t belong there. On the brink of adolescence, she was no longer wholly a child, and the denizens all sensed that and identified her as The Enemy.
