Homer: The Mik'Maq hunter took me back to his tribe... I was unconscious for days. Angel: Ah... the soon-to-be disguised blessing. Homer: When I woke up, I didn't know where I was or what happened. Then came the scariest part... I didn't even know who I was! Which reminds me, Duncan... what happened with you and that bear? Dog: Oh, let's just say I taught him a lesson. Angel: Oh, my... Homer: Uh... what could a seal teach a bear? Dog: Well... being a king predator, it was his nature to keep up the chase... so he followed me... into someone else's kingdom.

I know that sound. Happens every thunderstorm and blizzard.

Love the guy on the mountain. In Tibet, no doubt.

There is no way I could keep a TV in front of my bed.
The Internet, on the other hand…

How long will it take her to detremine that it is only part of a much greater conspiracy intended to deprive her of her divine right to be entertained.

That’s why you keep your old-fashioned antenna – for emergencies!

Couple times a year (near equinoxes), we can get that, as the satellite passes close to the line to the Sun; noise overcomes the signal. It’ll be better tomorrow.

The only scream more agonized than that of the lost-satellite-signal, is the very specific scream of the I-have-to-keep-14-small-children-entertained-but-the-tv-is-broken-and-it’s-raining-and-that’s-the-doorbell. It’s the moment of horrified realization that no matter what you come up with, your house is going to be destroyed.

Why are my “My Comics” gone? They completely deleted my favorites. I have nothing. I wish they would stop dinking around with the site. It was fine last week. Whatever they’ve done screwed up My Comics.

The BLIT would only really bother me if if I’m watching a football game that isn’t on in the local market.

Ah satellite T V. Just another modern fool-proof technology to make our lives better.
Digital Frog about 15 years ago
Do you hear that Fezzik? That is the sound of ultimate suffering. My heart made that sound when the six-fingered man killed my father. The Girl in Black makes it now.
vexatron1984 about 15 years ago
I agree with Carmy, read a book! I haven’t had TV of any kind for several years now and only miss things like Animal Planet and Discovery. Not to mention it is a great way to save money!
Logicman about 15 years ago
All you people PAY for television (cable/satellite)? There’s no logic in that!
Do you also pay to be otherwise insulted and tortured? You PAY to be condescended to? And to top it off you get bad service for the payment too?
Yep – no logic at all. Turn the tele off and go do something intelligent man!
dianecliff about 15 years ago
Digital Frog - excellent.
Satellite? - never again
Cable? - 500 channels of nothing much to watch.

Paying for TV….wish I thought of it……first…..

I enjoy mindless entertainment. Even blackouts amuse me.

Must admit I enjoy great writing on some of the shows on TV. West Wing, Gilmore Girls, Boston Legal, to name a few. I know it’s an eclectic mix but the dialogue fascinates me. I read during commercials (which I mute).
I agree about the site. Takes much longer to add comments.
df - Princess Bride rocks!

Ah yes–a solar powered, analog, quasi-digital form of information transfer technology.

I’m with carmy on this one. Nothing on T.V. since “Trailer Park Boys” decided not to do an 8th season.

I’ve always avoided “The Princess Bride” - maybe I’ll have to read (or watch) it after all. Does anyone recommend the movie?
ds133 about 15 years ago
I recommend both the movie and the book. They are both highly enjoyable in their respective mediums (though I saw the movie before reading the book, so those who read the book first might not agree).
SaraCVT about 15 years ago
Actually, the movie follows the book more closely than any movie I’ve yet to see, and that’s definitely a recommendation. It even in several places identically reproduces dialogue, which is good, because the dialogue in the book is hilarious. But you do miss the backstory and I think you lose on that account, so I would recommend both. I think the book first, movie second, the way I did it, is perfect. They are both incomparable specimens of their genre, and each have something to offer to the story, which is delightful.
