Ah the hardware store, one of the last refuge of man. I made the mistake of taking the wife there and she discovered all sorts of stuff a woman can use. Not many retreats left. Oh, did I mention I was stupid enough to take my wife fishing this year?
The Ace store near my house went out of business a few months ago – after having had the weirdest business hours I ever saw. About the only people who could shop there on weekdays were stay-at-homes, and high school kids cutting class.
The Ace is here is too expensive, I don’t know how they stay in business. I guess people are too lazy to cross the bridge over to Home Depot and Loews.
This is exactly how people in central Illinois are. They can’t go anywhere without asking everyone they know if they want to come along. God help you if you go anywhere without asking, you’ll never hear the end of it. I just wish I could hear the slow, very slow drawl of the central Illinois accent I’m sure that Joy, Burl and the rest have.
