Now she’s wondering about what other woman John is thinking about even though the conversation was about Phil and guys in general, not John specifically. But that’s how she interpreted it.
Elly should have learned by now that no matter how much a man loves his wife (or lover) he will still look at other women. That doesn’t mean he will do anything but look, it’s just how men are.
Maybe Phil likes Connie but is too shy to act. Maybe Connie should learn to be self sufficient and if love finds her then great and if not that’s ok, too.
A person would be lying if they said that they never thought of other members of the opposite sex. You see someone attractive walk by and a brief fantasy flashes through your mind. If you love your partner fantasies remain fantasies and can even strengthen a relationship. There is nothing that I like better than waking up in the morning, putting my arms around my wife and just cuddling for a few minutes, before beginning the day.
I remember a “Tim Taylor” episode where he and Jill went out to dinner and he “noticed” a beautiful blonde walking past their table. She spent the rest of that episode punishing him and eventually forced him to apologize for what is a normal human male reaction. She went on and on about how rude it was for him to even be aware there was another woman in the room, that it was an insult to her and diminished their relationship. Hetero men “notice” women. They can’t help it, it’s hard-wired into the brain. My thought at the time was that the episode must have been written by some really uptight and low self-esteem type women.
JanCinVV: Wow! I can’t tell by your avatar or online “name” whether you’re a man or a woman but I’m guessing you’re a man … a man who must be divorced because you sound like a real woman-hater! (If not, my apologies!)
Yes, it’s human nature to notice attractive members of the opposite sex (or same sex, if the case may be) — whether you’re single, engaged, been married 5 minutes or for 100 years. After all, we’re not dead. But we’re also not supposed to be animals either! We’ve got brains and we should know how and when to CONTROL ourselves!!!!!
I know the “Home Improvement” episode you’re referring to.
Any man who claims to love his wife should have the good sense, not to mention the common decency, NOT to ogle other women right there in front of their wives!
It’s embarrassing, it’s humiliating, and it’s degrading to us! And, yes, it DOES make us feel like you’re diminishing the relationship. We’re human beings with feelings and if men can’t control themselves long enough not to do that in front of us, then what are you doing behind our backs that we DON’T know about????? Why even BE married if that’s the way you want to behave??? Either stay single or become single and ogle as long and as much as you want (or until they slap you with a restraining order for being a crazy, scary stalker … whichever comes first).
Something to think about though: (Assuming you’re a man), how would you feel if a woman did that to YOU … openly ogled and flirted with other men right in front of you, apparently not caring that you’re sitting/standing right there??? Would you be angry and jealous? Would you be wondering what she was doing where other guys were concerned when you weren’t around? Or would you just not care?
In a couple of weeks, I’ll be married 21 years to the most wonderful husband in the world and when we’re out together, I’m the ONLY woman he ever “looks” at!!!!! He loves me enough to have the self control it takes NOT to do something so devastatingly hurtful to me and our relationship right there in front of me!

Rule number 1 for men: humans are naturally jealous. Rule number 2: think before you speak.

Look, once they ask a question like that, there is NO way it can end well for the guy.

She just hit him with the pillow, Duckie. No broken headboard, just a bad drawing.

I agree with you totally. It is a matter of consideration for the woman that you are with, to keep your attention on her.

She hit him with the pillow and knowing what we know now about real life – I’d say it’s overdue.
