For Better or For Worse by Lynn Johnston for August 09, 2005
Transcript:
John: He drove away, but I got his license number. Elizabeth: Dad...don't call the police! Howard's never done anything to me - he's just creepy. John: What he's doing is called "stalking", Elizabeth. It's harassment, and it's against the law! Elizabeth: Let me handle this, OK? - If it happens again, we'll do something. John: ...I'd rather do something before it happens again!!

I learned this rhyme at camp and it’s stuck with me: Who am I? Who are you? I’m a stalker. How about you?

Why wouldn’t she want to call the police? If he’s stalking you then you call the police

What doesn’t make sense here is why John doesn’t end up calling the police. Lynn likely did that to keep the arc going.

Rule of drama. The characters can’t act rationally if that would negate the story.
