And now we know the reason for the extra limo (as if it wasn’t obvious earlier)…

Wasn’t the whole point of rushing into the wedding was because Grandpa might not live long.

Elizabeth wants her grandfather to see her in her grandmother’s dress. I hope she gets there in time. I’m afraid we’re going to lose Grampa. Of coures this strip, like the others, isn’t for everyone. I’ve followed it for years and they’re like family to me. I’ve been enjoying the older ones, also. Thanks Ms. Johnston!

Look at strips you like and don’t bother with this one. We won’t miss you a bit.

I have been reading FBOFW since the beginning, I cried when Farley died, happy now that Elizabeth and Anthony are married, Mike is a success and April is finally growing up and not acting like a brat (typical “baby” of the family). Some of the storylines are happening in the people’s daily lives and to people I know. Death, births and growing old are part of nature. If you don’t like the strip, please read something else. If Grandpa dies I will be sad.

I agree with Silverpearl. If a reader doesn’t like the theme of the strip, why bother to follow it?

Because some people can’t be happy unless they can complain.

I am so sad to see this strip end. I have been addicted to it for years now and have loved watching the kids grow up and see inside their family. It’s the first thing I look at every morning on the computer. I just hate to see it end. There is still so much to their lives. I am not ready for them to just not exist anymore. Thank you Lynn for years of smiles. I miss you already!

i agree. it was a good way to handle the grandpa jim story. and i also agree with everyone…if you don’t like it don’t read it and we promise not to miss you….other wise we will still love you. like the pattersons we accept everything and one in life be it or they good or bad.

Best family comic in the world! Note the word comic. It isn’t real so stop dissing the plot, people. Really!

Do you also keep eating something which you think tastes awful? Nobody is forcing you to read this strip. Move along, nothing for YOU to see here!

I’ve been following FBOFW from day one and also feel somewhat connected because Lynn has, over the years, been able to keep a finger on the pulse of average family situations.

As stated earlier, the entire reason for the wedding was so Grandpa could see her in the dress. When this happened I expected Liz to want to go to the hospital.

Its funny that runar mentioned Comic Crumduan, I go on that site a lot myself. In fact I go and put in my two cents in usually positive which drives everyone batty there but be warned it makes horrible fun at a lot of the comics we treasure.

I haven’t commented on the last couple of strips because I really don’t know what to say. They’ve been too good for me to contribute any extra commentary. Suffice it to say, I hope Liz gets there in time. I know Granpa Jim will see her in the dress one way or another. This might sound really weird, but this strip has special circumstances, I feel. The characters will sort of go on, but stop aging. It’s been followed by so many for so long, and the backstories and settings are so thorough. I don’t know if anyone’s already done this (probably have), but this would be an excellent contender for fan-fiction, IMO.

Alikazam - I’m glad you enjoy the strips as much as everyone else does. I too think that they will stop aging. However, the reason that I posted again is because of you mentioning fan fiction.

I love fan fiction. I go to fan fiction sites all the time. However you will never see FBOFW fan fiction ever on the internet. The reason is that Lynn is a big stinker about that. She had lawyers go after some writers of it a few years ago and is one of the toughest comic artists against it. So unless you have some big pockets to afford a lawsuit, don’t fan fiction For Better or For Worse.

Really? This is (for me) a reason to refuse to buy her books. Do you have a reference? (preferably but not necessarily online).
