Elly: Look, John! She's walking! Elizabeth's walking! That's it, baby... one more step! She's walking! Isn't that wonderful?! She's taking her first steps today! Look at that! She's really getting into it! John: She's getting into it all right! And, tomorrow - she'll be getting into everything!

I can tell the difference in Lynn’s drawing, but I find I am not as excited about the next day’s strip as I used to be. The anticipation of a the next part of the story is gone. I liked it better when she had her hybrid mix of old and new. I just can’t live in the past every day. If this brings her new younger readers who can relate, that’s great, but I miss the strip as it used to be.

Time goes fast than the eyes blink! I think Lynn didn’t have time to do on the strips so she had time to collect the good memories and went ahead to make the simple strips on each day. Old time was much better than today. By the way, do any of you remember the strip that Michael made a lot of facial expressions behind Mother Elly’s back till the last panel showed that Elly turned around and caught Michael in the act but Michael kept himself cool and said nothing, just smiled with yellow halo above his head.I read it and laughed so hard till my stomach became sore. I loved it. I longed to have that strip. I missed that strip very much. That time I just read the strip on the newspaper. Today, all of the strips are on the website. I should cut the strip off from the newspaper and kept it as my treasure but I didn’t do it. Oh well! :-/

Still the same people. They should still do as they did, mostly.

If the strip continued as it was, we would have to have felt the tragedy of so many characters dying. I liked it ending on a happy note, and these strips remind me of being a kid reading these on Sunday. :-) It’s not all bad.

Doctortoon and Burgundy: I cried when Lisa died, too. At least she got to meet her son before she passed.
Funky Winkerbean handles real situations, such as Funky’s alcoholism, Lisa’s high school pregnancy, a traffic accident where Funky’s cousin Wally was driving, and Becky lost her arm. The strip started when the characters were all in high school, and now they’re all middle aged, with high school kids of their own. It’s a wonderful strip. Lisa and her husband Les, had a daughter named Summer. Les was a total geeky klutz in highschool, but his daughter is a super athlete. It makes me smile.

Dr. Toon, Lisa’s death in Funywinkerbean really got me too. As did Farley’s here. Excellent examples of how a good story teller can get an audience wrapped up in a story in just a few panels a day.
