Jon: There's Doc Boy with his girlfriend. And there he is with his prize pig! I think I have those in backward.
Garfield: Hard to tell...they're both wearing ribbons.
I never did understand them naming their son Doc Boy. At least Jon got a normal name. Doc Boy is rather stocky but he doesnât look like a pig. I think Jonâs implying Doc Boyâs girlfriend does.
Oh, so very sly, so politically incorrect, and so refreshing to read a comment on obesity by an American; this is self-mockery at its very best. Just wonderful!
c00k13m0n5t3r:
If I, as a non-obese (a bit underweight, actually) American, made a joke about obese people (heaven forbid), then it would not be self-mockery.
Brigit_CH seemed to be suggesting that it would be. Maybe I misunderstood the comment?

Love Garfieldâs sarcasm, truly priceless⊠Not just in todayâs strip, but over all 3 decadesâŠ

For those of you new to this strip, Doc Boy is Jonâs younger brother. Both grew up on their parentâs farm.

Brigit_CH:
Itâs not self-mockery unless self is obese.

BetterThanYou: âSelfâ probably is the average American. Person with weight problems wearing ribbons.
