Mornin’ crew! Dogs that have been skunked suck! Trust me. My uncle used to have pure-bred blood hounds and she was a PITA to clean up from a skunking!
Have a great day friends!

I thought when a skunk got your dog it was suppose to stop them in their tracks, not my dog!! He kept chasing it around the front yard until he heard me yelling at him. I used tomato juice and vinegar and dog shampoo. The best thing ever is Summer’s Eve wash. It really works!! BTW: poor louie.

I never had to deal with a skunked dog, but we had a dog that met a porcupine. The vet had to work about 5 quills out of her mouth.

“Skunk Off Shampoo” works well, can get it from your veterinarian.
If you don’t have access to that, try this home brewed Skunk Busting Solution: 1 Quart 3% Hydrogen peroxide 1/4 cup baking soda 1 - 2 tsp. liquid dish detergent such as Dawn, Ivory Liquid
mix in large plastic bucket and immediately apply to stinky pet. work into fur and leave on 5 - 10 min. Rinse. May need to repeat. Apply with sponge or washcloth to face, careful around eyes, ears, nose and mouth. Discard any leftover solution.

Tomato juice does not work. It just annoys you and the dog. All skunkings result in a BIG stink! which will dissipate with time… after all the offensive fur has been shed.

Where did they find a skunk in the first place. Are they docked in harbor here?
James Lindley Premium Member about 15 years ago
Good question. They’ll want some hydrogen peroxide too.
