It was difficult to find the date of this strip. Searching for “You didn’t tell me you were going to kill it!” produced dozens of links to images taken from the TV special, but nothing for the original strip.

Oh, for Pete’s sake, Linus, the whole reason why pumpkin plants make pumpkins to begin with is so that dumb creatures like us will spread their seeds around! We wind up eating some of the seeds too but still plant more than enough of the rest later so new pumpkin plants grow and make more pumpkins for us next year.
