I remember getting the oral polio vaccine around this time. I cried because I thought I was getting a shot, then, afterwards, wanting a bunch of sugar cubes. I was just a little over 3 years old.

I remember that, too. We went to a firehouse, and I got to eat a sugar cube. Don’t remember if my parents got shots or the cube; I really didn’t care, because I got mine.

This eating of sugar cubes to help with the polio vaccine is the basis of the song, “A Spoonful of Sugar” helps the medicine go down.

I have no memory of that … but I was offered LSD in a sugar cube about 1980. (Declined because I was driving.)
