I tried to research what a “cinch notice” might be, but found nothing. If anyone out there knows, I’d love to find out. Otherwise, this punchline dies in obscurity.

“A cinch notice is an official notice from a teacher that your grades are unsatisfactory.” From the official peanuts anthology.

What it means is his lunch is unsatisfactory and therefore he should think about bringing sandwiches beginning tomorrow. Pinc-to Del-li is a great start for the 2nd half of the school day.

“Cinch notice” does seem to be a bit of an obscure word. I had to do extra digging as regular search engines found no definition, eventually finding in a Peanuts anthology and a slang dictionary that it’s a note from a teacher to a student telling them they need to get their act together, do better, “get a grip”. Like Peppermint Patty failing to get a gold star in “milk drinking” a few days back, I don’t know how or why Linus would need to improve in “lunch eating.”
