I’m not sure why a universal remote is an age related nightmare… I’m in my 30s and I can’t figure them out. (thankfully I have kids! “God Mom, it’s SO easy” eye roll)

I’m missing the connection to age here… At first I assumed it was because I’m a kid, but nobody else seems to get it, either.

With age nightmares won’t make sense anymore. I guess that’s the message.

I remember when you had to actually get out of your chair and turn the channel on the TV.

because very old persons that are too disabled to move will have a universal remote that let them control most of their surroundings. in the morning someone comes to move them from bed to living, in the evening someone comes to move them from living to bed, and during the day they have the remote…

I used to be my Dad’s remote control. He’d tell me the channel and I’d turn the knob

Humph! Lousy ageist! Plenty of old timers can juggle a dozen remotes without needing simplifying aids.

What WOULD have been funnier, is if the second remote was Garfield’s “LifeCall” necklace. LOL

I don’t understand why everyone is confused by this one. A universal remote has a lot of buttons. A lot of buttons tends to intimidate old people. (Which one do I push to change the #$&! channel?)

Garfield, The garage door opener is scary when its out of battery, the only way in to your house and its a below zero winter night. Brrr!

Anyone else here thinks Garfield (the strip) needs some fresh ideas? The same old plotlines have been trundled past so many times they’re getting beyond tedious.

Today’s Comic is really funny. Something a bit different.Garage Door Openers can be a bit scary sometimes because they can be a real pain to work properly!

I finally got a remote that you speak your instructions on which TV function you want to have done..The problem is the brand I bought talks back and disagrees with me..just like most channels disagree with me.

I know some of you have been reading this strip a while, and I’m not a newcomer to it, but I find it often amusing, My grandson (13) likes it enough to ask me to send it to him. We can’t forget that not EVERYONE has seen the strips and SOME folks are amused.

Please! The joke is not that the universal remote is too difficult. Just the opposite!

It is one of the simplifying aids which might parade in front of Garfield, like a hearing aid, false teeth, a walker, or bathtub guardrails. Young people love technology and can remember all of the controls on a dozen remotes. An old cat needs help, for instance this device! Everybody has a garage door opener, not just old people.

The gag is kinda dated. The generation of “old people” who were intimidated by electronics is mostly gone now. Today’s “old people” grew up with at least a little bit of technology.

Doesn’t strip remind someone of the famous movie that was released in the 80’s about the computer that steals his owner’s wife.

The universal remote is sometimes larger so you can see it easier if your older.
