Dogs eat their vomit. He probably got sick right after he ate his poop. Dogs eat that, too. They usually chew on dead animals afterwards to get the nasty taste out of their mouth.
This cartoon would really be over the line if the dogs were driving a car with cloth material.
Marg, dogs tend to stick their heads out when riding in cars; the joke is, when they are about to throw up, that’s when they stick their heads inside to vomit, the opposite of humans.
I beg to differ on the ‘always’ and ‘usually’ comments…
Not all dogs eat feces and vomit and stick their head out car windows, not even most…SOME dogs do this….
sweeping generalizations equals incorrect perceptions……
..
Yes, ALL 4 of the pooches I’ve owned, over 40 yrs time, have taken a retchingly disgusting interest in their constant kitty companion’s cat box. At one time or another, I have caught each of the doggies with litter stuck to the snout.
I do believe it’s a motherly instinct - in order to clean up the “den”, the mommy wolf devours her offspring’s defecations & vomit.
That, however, does NOT make the idea any less nauseating for me…….

This behavior is so common among canids that the few who don’t eat vomit and poop are the exception who prove the rule.
In fact, it’s mentioned in the Bible! Look it up if you don’t believe me (Proverbs 26:11)
