I finally found out that Shoe is a Purple Martin.

I once saw a joke to the effect of “Dear Joe, I thought I should let you know I’ve been getting these really stupid memos from your Desk and you should make it stop.”

Well, at least it went out in a blaze of glory.

Cosmo can’t quit until he pays off the DeSoto.

Purple martin- hmmm. Cosmo should save time and submit all raise requests on flash paper- quicker disposal, less ash.

And then Cosmo walks up and says..“Is that my memo?” “Kiss my ash”..
