What makes you think those weren’t tears of joy, Lucy?

Lucy seems convinced those were real tears.

Of course, Catfeet—after all, it’s all about her! When Lucy’s in pain, everybody suffers!

Today we’d call that a repetitive stress injury (like carpal tunnel syndrome), though I think “tennis elbow” is still a common term.

I think Charlie Brown’s team is probably better off without her. They might even win a game.

Inwardly he’s thinking “YES!” because if you’ve read other strips, Lucy can’t catch the ball even when its heading right towards her.

What you people don’t realize is that Lucy with her ego will make a great politician one day. She’s right up there with Attila the Hen. She’ll be president one day.

I take it that this was an Academy Award moment for Charlie Brown. Inwardly, he’s probably glad to be rid of the “no ball playing fussbudget” for a week!

And what’s worse than washer-woman’s elbow? That’s right… Tennis balls!
