Childress probably appreciates all the hair you gave him…

I’m surprised there was no mention of a crack-back.

Bill Hinds, glad to see you have a thick skin (comments from 9/3 strip, I’m a little behind) and please keep on keepin’ on.

i was a Vikings fan back in the days of Bud Grant, but now only follow them a bit. i think the Favre signing was a bad idea for the team, but a good thing for cartoonists and sports pundits. the more second guessing, the merrier.

I thought it was a superb use of hyperbole. Hyperbole is supposed to be over the top. It caricatures how fans put football and other sports way higher in importance than they should be. It’s a great message for all us sports fans, Jeff and Bill. We need to put sports in perspective. The only people sports are that important to are the athletes, coaches, and owners who make their livings off them. If the Lions lose another 16 this year, or if they win the Super Bowl, my life won’t change an iota either way. Knowing that won’t keep me from getting excited (or depressed), but that’s the wonder of sports, isn’t it?

..This strip rocks…don’t change because some people aren’t smart enough to get the joke(they all can’t be low-brow)…

The nice this about this strip is that it aims (in its own quirky way) for the highest common denominator…and rarely misses. When I think it does, Bill kindly comes along and explains his target. That’s a better track record than some contemporary poets I’ve read online. :)
