Should be x + c, where c is the number of oCCupants in the Car…

Is the current population before you arrive x + 1? When you get there the population will be x + 1 + c, and then when you leave the population will be x + 1 again.

Unless the population before you arrive is x, and after you arrive is x + c, and when you leave returns to x. Since you have not passed the sign yet, the sign should then show “Population x” (or if the condition of the first paragraph is true, “Population x + 1”).

    Thanks mditoro.

I had a fan join my Facebook list who was a math teacher and asked for more math cartoons. That lead to this cartoon.

By the by, I put a lot of weird stuff and background info and all up on my personal Facebook page (even more so than on the Loose Parts group page because that’s administered by my syndicate) so if you’re interested just send a friend request.
