I have a cousin, she looks alot like Gertie. The problem is she lets her age and appearance run her life. She is unhappy and lonely. I’m glad Gertie is taking a chance and living her life. I’d be worried for her, but this is a comic strip. She may not get what she expects, but at least she’ll get a happy ending.

I was surprised how Gertie’s last arc ended, with her having missed her big chance, so I can’t be so sure about that happy ending. Still, I hope there will be something good in store for her, something inspirational or elating. Maybe Earl will convince her that she doesn’t need all the “artillery” to win the battle. Where is Earl Lee Byrd? What is he thinking as he returns to Gasoline Alley?
Don’t worry Axe, sooner or later Gertie will get her happy ending. It might take Earl awhile to come to his senses, but he’s as good as hooked. Gertie has the bait he likes. He’s hers.

Every harmless though I have has a explicit application . So I’ll take a pass for now .

Gertie’s moving away from the memories Byrd has of her, which could be a very dangerous thing.

Gertie’s “riding for a fall”.

Yes, I think it was Gertie’s antipathy or indifference to him that initially enticed Bird.

There is no good ending in sight for this story line and it’s really dragging on

Yes, it IS really dragging on. A little more plot and a little less chatter, please

I think Gertie’s getting a bit presumptuous thinking that Earl is still interested. I hate to see what will happen if he’s not.

She really needs to get rid of that wig. The more you look at it, the more it looks like nothing but a hair hat.

Man, no wonder this strip has gone on for 90 years. The pace is glacial.

I actually fear reading this comic strip at the moment.

Her name was “Nine-ah” because her maiden name was “Clock.” It was another delightful pun. Her name was “Nina Clock.”
The “Earl E Byrd” and “Upton O Goode” are just a continuation of something that GA has been doing a long time.
