Wait, I just saw it, in panel two.
Sure enough Marg, good eyes. This is as much fun as finding the bunny on the cover of [Playboy] MagazineâŠ..NOT
Yesterday Noll was standing on the other side of his car. Which had a round roof. Itâs snowing like mad again, at least in panels 6 & 7. Nollâs car, Tracyâs car, all of which have been kept outside, none of them have any snow on them at all. How many WEEKS since Tracy has actually been to HQ?
HankF says:
âI, for one, stick up for the writer of this strip, Locher. I know Iâm a numbnuts but he needs someone to support him.
I admire that HankF. Youâre honest enough to clear the air, to say where you stand, and apparently accept that others are entitled to different opinions
The board is not really a fan club for Authors (for example, Locher) but rather for comment on the âcontentâ of the strip which in recent times has been riddled with errors and contradictions. A scenario thatâs an âalienâ one to most of the readers of the Dick Tracy strip here. It frustrates them and undeserved sympathy for a writer/artist who should KNOW better, is not going to override that determination.
If youâre here to âdefendâ, Dick Locher regardless of âQualityâ. Particularly, any âbelow-standardâ work, youâre not likely to have an easy time.
Iâve been trying to remember what got me started following this strip. All that comes to mind is DT has been caught and thereâs a spike attached to melting ice ready to bore into DTâs chest. Anyone remember when this was done and which artist did it?
Akenta, I can see you go way back. The spike and the melting blocks of ice was probably Tracyâs most memorable Death Trap. The spike was through a thick board, and weighted down by an old refigerator placed on top.
It was set up by Mrs.Pruneface (newspapers-1943) in revenge for her husband Prunefaceâs death. She blamed Tracy. Chained to the floor, he escaped the trap by bouncing the floor with his bottom and the wet melting ice slid on the old, uneven, slanting floor, taking the sharpened stake from over his heart. Patton later found him alive.
Many think this is the âbestâ female villain ever to come up against Dick Tracy.
She was a Chester Gould creation appearing in what most will agree was Gouldâs most magical, creative period the 1940âs into the early 1950âs
The Crime Stoppers Textbook on Sundays may be the hardest part of doing the strip for Locher. Here he has to put in some real âthoughtâ, the rest ia probably all left on âCruise Controlâ, ie Whatever strikes me when I go to the board in the morning ⊠thatâs why things often get so darned mixed up!
Sorry Locher. Butane has been out of grasp for probably 25 years. Do you mean Propane? One reason Butane isnât around is it freezes and Propane doesnât. Wouldnât you get your point across better saying that arsonists use flammables to get their work done?
Forgive me for being a clueless noob but what exactly is the nipple/mammary/duckie thing that appears nearly every Sunday supposed to symbolize? Iâve seen it for quite a few years. A secrect society symbol of some sort?
Panel 3 looks like someone is using one of those plastic squeeze lemons on Angelgloriousness.
to Trickdacy et al. The hidden little yellow ducks are a tribute by Dick Locher to his late son John who died tragically young. He even changed the looks of Jr. who used to be a freckled faced red head to a pudgy white haired man who resembled his late son.

She may not be able to see, but she can drive from Tracysâ home to an area with high rise buildings.

Was that 500 or 300 miles?
A useful tip from the Firestartersâ Textbook?
Remember the Moonmaiden arc from the 60âs? The plotlines made more sense back then.

Tracy made sure to put on his gloves after he splashed Angelwhoozis with the fuel. Gotta keep those fingers warm.

Couldnât Tracy smell gasoline on the ground as he jumped into his car? I couldnâtâve evaporated that fast.

Thanks for the info 436rge. Why that particular shape though, I wonder.
Yes I recall when âJuniorâ changed. I always wondered why. I never knew the new version was modeled on Locherâs son
