I haven’t quite figured out exactly how many procedures Tracy’s busted since Locher took over. Sydney would know. And, if I were B.O., while Tracy is busy at the casino, I’d move the money.

And the Ace of Maple leafs is called when you have a joker in the hand! It’s a wildcard scenario…………..
And the Red Maple tree is known by the name Acer Rubrum; which leads us back to the ace of hearts. So, what wisdom can we draw from that?
Tracy is no “dirty” cop, folks. Big Ace was going to take the money he brought undercover as a bag man. That money, as you all know, was connected to Jack’s thugs at B.O. & Gravel’s house. That’s a criminal conspiracy, ladies and gentlemen.
The Swat team member presence reminds me that they have been called in for ALL stories authored by Dick Locher except the two cases that took Tracy to Washington DC. Prior to that, in the Red Hawk story Sam Catchem was right there arriving with them. Now San is a forgotten entity. After doing ‘nada’ for three and a half years is Locher slowly phasing him his out of the strip ?
It’s noticable, not one SWAT team member has been seen to fire or take a shot after all these calls. It’s his strip so he is expected to ‘hog’ eighty percent of the law and order activity not 110%. His name is Tracy not Jor El the father of Superman. Heck Locher ! Lets have some interesting variety, give others a break !
Every story seems to come in an Al Gore “Locked Box”. New things are introduced and at the end locked away for all time. That’s why we won’t see the Robots again (it’s as if they never happened), and we won’t see this new “body heat” Thermal technology ever repeated.
The point here IS, there is little or NO “continuity”, from story to story. It’s just that if today you “mentioned” the word “Robot” to Tracy. He may look puzzled and ask you Robot WHO ? By the next story, Thermal “body heat” may mean something more like being “intimate” with Tess in the bedroom. Perhaps that’s why increasingly our Detectives “BASE” of operation seems cuddly more out of home.
Mama ! Is this just “P-P” story structuring ? And before the Censors get excited and over hyper, “P-P” means “perfunctory poor”!
That’s possibly why we don’t see Big Boss “Desert Bob” (the behind the scenes owner) of the big Diamond Casino (Queenie story) in evidence now, replaced by a “cocotte” dressed King of Clubs. While the “Taser” IN his Wrist Geenee, (Shaman story – 7-13-2005) which could easily have taken down Mr. Ammonia (ALIVE, as it did “Little Rabbit”), must have been something Figment Froid’s Mind Machine erased from Dick’s noggin.
“The point here IS, there is little or NO “continuity”, from story to story.”
No surprise whatsoever here for Gould fans, friend Sydney – Tracy always goes from one case to the next, very rarely looking back. In LIFE Magazine in 1944, Chet describes VERY SUCCINCTLY that what appears in the strip are “highlights” of Tracy’s adventures…not EVERY little detail.
As for the “police procedure” issue which you will inevitably fall back on, friend Sydney–I would just ask that you do your homework on what that means in context of the American judicial system before you place labels. Had Chet made Tracy stick to the letter of every law (at the time the cases appeared), all those criminals would have never been brought to justice. Just a friendly word of caution, here, my friend.
Jeff, I think you should get royalties for rewriting the facts in DL’s storyline.
How do “readers all know” the money was ‘connected’ (?) In fact, precisely what words from the text, clearly informs you ? How do YOU know? It seems more a “mental jump” of understanding that you have chosen to make.to find the TRUTH. It’s an assumption that others simply haven’t SEEN in black and white
At worst the Author should thank you for trying to steer his leaking Dingy through his self imposed terbulent rapids.
It seems you would be a good choice to write an “appreciation” when he retires
I’ve done my homework. Others should do so too and in the process “revise” their answers, as a precaution. I’m not about to do someone else’s homework to “disprove” their glittered, ambitious opinion. They have the obligation to prove it with “specific” evidence. Otherwise readers will take it for what it IS. Flavored “Opinion”!
I’ve laid out details of mistakes that Locher has made in massive abundance. Many were of course made by Gould and the others, but considerably less often. It’s QUANTITY that KILLS, and repeating the same goof “over and over”, without even realizing it (?). Yes ! Over the years he has done some commendable work, but has countered this with some awful choices. Error prone (too much on his plate?) he continues to “stumble” as he has done often in this story. These have not “enhanced” the strip nor have they served to burnish his reputation !
I’ve given several examples of DL staggering (and can easily provide more). So the onus is now on you to pick and COMPARE, in black and white similar flaws by others. It’s an easy “breeze” to make “Wide Sweeping Claims”. But what is NEEDED are “dates” and of course, specific SUBSTANCE !
I urge you to do it, and will thank you in the end for it will only prove my contentions. In the meantime, two or three dazzled minds sayng it isnt so does not change “reality”!
“Tracy is no “dirty” cop, folks. Big Ace was going to take the money he brought undercover as a bag man. That money, as you all know, was connected to Jack’s thugs at B.O. & Gravel’s house. That’s a criminal conspiracy, ladies and gentlemen”.
Oh Jeffy, Jeff, Jeff. Using your summation, there was no need for the Dicksters gambit. He easily could have gotten a warrant, walked right in and arrested the “Big Ace” with no problem. Why kill someone when no-one needs to die? This story line, as with all others that I have read in the past three years at least, lacks any semblance at coherency. Great gaping plot holes abound and red herrings are the official mascot of ol’ Dick. I don’t expect the plots to equal Christie, Queen or Conan Doyle, but would appreciate some form of consistency in even for the duration of a single week. There are no longer any defenses that can be mounted that suffice.
Sydney, I lost count of the times Jeff called you “my friend”. For a while I was thinking he might start hitting on you. The phony sophistication and condescention insults my intelligence. Jeff didn’t used to be like that, but his association with Mattie is proof positive it spreads orally.
Wonder Wharthog–I ask you, what crime did Big Ace commit, exactly, that Tracy could justify to a judge for a warrant? He didn’t even know WHO this crook was or WHERE to find him.
