Coming Soon đ At the beginning of April, youâll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
Why do you keep expecting this comic to conform to your reality? Itâs always played on a tangential field to what we see in the papers. And if it keeps confusing and displeasing you, perhaps you need to spare yourself the agita and drop it.
@bdaverinI know that these guys poke fun at reality. The problem is that I think you sometimes have to read page 22 of the sports section to find the item they are lampooning. Todayâs strip seems to be dealing with something I, like my other commenters above, know nothing about. Or is this one totally free-form humor unconncected to any current sports activity?
Iâm guessing that the âTenzing Norgay Marathonâ (up one side of Everest and down the other) is relating to this yearâs Boston Marathon which also ends lower than it starts, but with some significant hills in between, and so a record set on it this year was not recognized. Millar and HInds are pointing out that just because the finish line is lower than the start line does not mean a race is âaidedâ
Pikes Peak has two races August 20-21 this year. On Saturdays is the ascent to the top of the Peak. Sunday is the Marathon, which starts and finishes at the same spot. The crazy people run both races that weekend. The Auto Hill Climb was this past weekend and the 10 minute barrier was cracked for the first time by âMonsterâ Takajima at 9:51.278 racing in the unlimited class
