Slim is suffering of what is known as the “post George W. Bush Years”.

There’s a gorgeous piece of original 1941 Frank King art over at the ebay site that’s worth a long (and longing) look. Skeezix and Nina pre-marriage! Amazing to see the brush and penwork of the King, though I have to say the strip is now in the good hands of his steward, Scancarelli!

That’s what I thought too, the regular cook (I forget his name) was sick.

But–but–Corky only brought him in because T-Bone was sick…and the only reason he was available was that business was bad at the garage and Clovia couldn’t afford to pay him. Just how sick IS T-Bone, anyway? And is Slim now working at the garage for free? And who’s cooking for the dinner crowd at the diner? Or is THAT where Corky has been all this time?

Obviously, T-Bone and Corky have gone to Tijuana to gamble away the profits of the diner. They’ll be back in a few days. I don’t understand why the rest of you don’t get that.

What if there never was a T-Bone at all, what if that was actually Clovia in disguise? Did we ever see them together? What could she be up to? Is Slim in danger?

Aha! A conspiracy unfolds to get Slim out of the garage! Perhaps it’s a front for a Swiss bank!

Hmmm. And Clovia knows that only Slim is SMART enough to see how she has manipulated the numbers to… on second thought, naw. That can’t be it!
