By the way, I wish there were an award for which I could nominate Handrew’s late post yesterday. It is a lucid and insightful look at the sometimes volatile dynamic on this page, using a sports stadium crowd as an analogy. Well worth the reading, I think. I attempted a Star Trek movie metaphor yesterday to make pretty much the same point, but I freely admit that Handrew hit the mark better than I did.
When someone doesn’t like the strip, I don’t mind. When they (or just he) also insult the intelligence or character of anyone who does enjoy it, that crosses the line into boorishness (many of these posts are apparently deleted soon after, either by the poster himself or the site monitors)– especially in a venue designed to attract those who appreciate the author and his work. And many have pointed out the pointless nature of the endless “end this now” posts.
If we could ever have a reasonable discussion without the incendiaries, I’d have no problem with disagreements.
Norman, Maresy is right. I will disagree with you whenever I like, but will maintain a high level of decorum. Derision is not necessary in disagreement. Who knows, maybe you’ll love the next storyline, and I won’t!

But unlike Not Norman you would probably read it and just go onto the next comic in your queue without commenting like I would. There are many times I want a comic to move onto another story arc already (Usually “Cathy”) but to belabour the point of how bored you are with it just bores everyone reading the comments.
Macushlalondra….. I read your post yesterday about Rufus’s cat. I didn’t get the finishing story to it, as I waited for a week to check the strip again and if it was on the same story , I would just go on for another day or more. But the strip was Rufus bought every cat food of a certain brand so as to meet the cat that was in the commercial. Rufus kept waiting every day for the winner to meet the cat I believe the name was “Maurice” in person. Rufus did win, and the prize was that his cat would now be the cat for the commercial. The only part that was funny to the strip was the fact that Rufus’s cat hated the cat food, and the producer of the commercal was getting agitated. I never followed the rest of the story to that strip from there on.
Well, I’ve been trying to find Earl, to let him know that Gertie is looking for him. Maybe Dypak was right about him leaving on a freight train. I’ll bring a picture of him down to the station, see if anybody remembers which way he went.
