Leo is praising Alex just the way he did to her parents at her commencement last year. And Drew, far from acting the seductress, is almost maternal in the way she admires Leo’s devotion to Alex. With all these people concerned for her, Alex looks comic with her self-tormenting

I wonder where the need to have a friend not as pretty or smart as you will end. I wonder if I can find a hunchback BFF with warts. Perhaps one with the combined intelligence of Congress. Body odor a must.

In a way, this is predictable. Alex has her intense insecurity, but Leo loves her and only her. Drew, we must believe, is a babe, but she’s also super smart and a good friend. Everyone stays in character, and all is well.

Alex is typical of intelligent women. Cultural signals are that that’s not good enough—you have to look good in a bikini. Consequently we spend their lives absolutely certain we don’t deserve what we’ve got and are about to have it taken away from us for cause. That’s one of the reasons I love Alex, in her Trudeau shows he really understands the problem.

Don’t feel happy about the words “trailer-trash”. I live in a trailer in a trailer park. Only here we call them Mobile Home Communities!! No, really, I get the joke, I guess I need to throw a tire or two on my shed! Hang on Alex, Leo loves you!!
